6.5 Not CM……

Post by Elk Creek »

I was at a shop east of town a couple weeks ago and spotted a COOL little rifle. A Ruger compact 77mkii chambered in 260 Remington! The problem with the 260 was/is the twist rate was not setup for 130gr plus bullets, well Ruger fixed that with a 1/8 twist. Good on them! Oh at some point the trigger has been upgraded to about 3 pounds and breaks like glass. Can’t wait to shoot this little rifle.

That’s a sweet one!! Love the rifle and chambering.
It may be finicky with accuracy once it heats up. So, range sessions may be long as you need to let it cool after 3 rounds.

Should be a great little shooter. I have some 120’s to start with.. should be right in the sweet spot.

You gotta 8T barrel and you’re gonna shoot 120s.

Of course you do. I’m sure if someone bought a 6.35x53 and 3/8’s you would ask what grain weight bullet they wanted “the standard 131 grain or the 149.3 grain! 🤣

Cool little classic regardless of what you shoot out of it. I don't think from a light weight barrel made for hunting they'll be a ratsass difference between 120gr and the heavier bullets on the gas you'd use that for, but it's good to have options.

And obviously I meant “game” not “gas”.
