It has been a pretty crappy past few months
Now that it looks like it’s mostly over, I can share some of the crap that has been going on.
Back in January, my Mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly. My wife and her brother were the ones who made the discovery, and got to deal with that trauma. The day I returned from my bereavement leave, my employer decided it would be a good idea to lay me off (I won’t mention the name here, because they have more lawyers than I have friends. But if you are ever looking for enterprise automation software, call center, call recording software, etc… I’ll tell you who you shouldn’t use). In the following months, I got to deal with:
-planning a funeral when the City of Austin Medical Examiner could not finish an autopsy in under 5 weeks.
-more family drama on my side.
-Helping deal with lawyers, accounts, insurance, etc… that you get to do as executor of an estate,
-one of my best friends dying and all the crap around that.
-taking care of 2 houses
-both ACs going out on the mother in law’s house at the beginning of the heatwave,
-having to apply, interview, and all the related job search BS while going on long planned family vacation
-All the general job search BS
And now we are moving to the MIL’s house while contractors are here fixing things, and selling the old house while I am on boarding with the job I started this past Monday.
Not saying this for any sympathy (well, maybe a bit. Let’s call it commiseration to make it more acceptable) but more an explanation as to why I started this forum. When the G&A forum was shutting down, I figured this was one crap thing going on that I could solve and make right.
Anyway. Started a now job this week and all signs show it being an awesome place. My bosses seem super cool and the products and customers are things I can believe in.

Sometimes rough patches happen to remind us how good we have it. Glad you seem to be on the other side
Re: It has been a pretty crappy past few months
That's a lot of crap in a short time. Any one of those problems would be enough to deal with.
I hope the new job is a fresh start and things start to look up.

Few more weeks and you can relieve some stress on whitetails and hogs, that is a lot to shoulder over a few months, hope the relatives don't make Thanksgiving and Christmas a circus.

Sorry you had to deal with all that...We just went through a series of deaths in the family and the loss of a good friend as well, do I can relate to at least some of what you're dealing with...Hang in there...we're rooting for you and yours up here in the Great White North...

I'm amazed that you dealt with all of that and still found the time and motivation to start this forum. There is someone looking after you.

Whole bunch of dry double headed ones have come your way for sure. Glad it’s starting to ease up.

I'll just leave this here:
"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."
I'm glad to hear there's daylight within view. Whenever I get down, I remind myself that there are others who have it worse than I do.
Work and Perseverance.

Wow, it all seems like more than one person could bear. I hope things turn up a little brighter than they have been. Good luck in trying times.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully now I can start focusing on the board and see what I’m going to do with the top level domain here as well.
Might be interesting to start a review a blog and whatnot. We shall see.

Blog? You gonna wax poetic for 7 paragraphs before you get to the meat of what you're actually talking about?

I didn’t say a recipe site… but actually, wild game recipes might have a place.breamfisher wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 2:46 pm Blog? You gonna wax poetic for 7 paragraphs before you get to the meat of what you're actually talking about?

Bullsi, that's a lot in a short period of time. Any one of those situations would crunch most people, let alone coming in waves. Tip of the hat to you, sir.

Sounds like a lot of rough stuff that you've worked your way through.
I for one would be interested in a blog, both as a reader and a potential contributor.

When life comes at you, it doesn't play around, does it?
