I’ve only seen one red down here and that’s on camera. Haven’t seen it in a year or more. But, it had a beautiful look to it.

This guy bedded down in front of the camera and I got about 100 pics of him every time he moved his head

Short front?
Why not abbreviate and call him Z?

Not a game camera picture. But this morning I looked out my bedroom window and saw 2 quail. I know to some of y’all that’s nothing special. But, around here quail sightings are up there with Bigfoot and UFOs.

These are the first I’ve seen since I flushed a small covey on the family farm 3-4 years ago. Before that it had probably been 10+ years since I had seen a quail.

Last ones I saw had to be a decade ago.
I recall stepping on a covey one time at my uncles, and I mean stepping on a covey. Once they decided to fly, I found myself in the middle of them. I about crapped my pants when they took off.

My grandparents small farm used to hold 2-3 decent sized coveys. I could usually jump a couple of them and get 3-4 birds for my grandfather.
My oldest is almost 33 and has never seen a covey rise much less hunted quail.
