I said I wouldn't do it again but... My great nephew's father fell in love with my blind last year after stopping by after a long wet walk. It was 80 degrees inside, dry, and the office chairs were comfortable. He asked if I could design another, his granddaughters are getting old enough to hunt, his wife and son want a comfortable archery stand for bad weather, and he wants a general multipurpose stand just to sit in, alone!. After a lot of sketches and thought, I came up with this idea. It is a little over 6' x 8' and will sit on a primary platform between 6 & 10 feet high, with steps and a platform to accommodate an in swinging door. The roof will be metal that matches the sides. The local laws say it must be painted a conspicuous color and be mobile. The main body will come in eleven pieces and the base in six, including the steps. The main windows are sliders and the archery windows open in. The interior will be dark brown. A propane bottle will bungeed to the ledge of one of the archery windows for a heater and cap stove and there will be a laminated table, shelf on the high side, and a French coffee press. I may add a small battery and solar panel for LEDs and a USB to charge the girls tablets You know how girls are! The location is at a great transition area with fields, transition timber and food plots. They have thirty deer, a couple bar n coyote on camera.

I went the whole “solar panel 12v” system with my blind and installed lights, USB and 12v outlets…. Then it was all make obsolete by small rechargeable battery packs. Just have the end users pack in a couple of batteries and then there won’t be anything for the animals to chew up or methbillies to steal.
To make something simple is a thousand times more difficult than to make something complex.

That's what I would look at. One of those lithium battery powered 110v (200 or 300 watt), multi USB outlet, 12 volt boxes. Jackery makes them or less known ones on amazon. That and a 30 or 60 watt solar panel. Probably get in under $300 on the cheap.
Na, 9volt LED Night lights work fine, and I can set them for red. The French press puts off less aroma than a percolator, and the extra hot water makes instant oatmeal cereal or Ramon. There will be two office chairs and two folding camp chairs. We can get very small charging batteries for the kids toys if needed. Simple works! The entire design is simple, breaks down in less than an hour and is waterproof. I have 18 x 18 rubber backed carpet squares for the floor to insulate it from cold and the sound of the chair wheels.
I tested my ideas of the archery windows this evening, and it will work fine. I just need to spray paint the piano hinge brown before installation
I was thinking about that! Tilt the chair back, raise your feet and call it a night. You won't disturb the game coming into the blind in the morning. As long as you don't snore too loud!
I got the archery windows in yesterday and the interior paint is almost done. I have trim work to do today. Next project is the raised platform and stairs. Tom ordered the lumber yesterday and I should have that done next weekend. The weekend after that we will have it in the field, so the game can get used to it before the start of archery season.
It is assembled in the field. It went together as I planned, even though it is two feet higher than I planned. I assembled the base laying on the ground, then stood it up. I had numbered the walls, so we could lift them into position and secure them one at a time. I left one long wall off, so we could lift and set the two roof panels on the seven walls. Once the two roof halves were in place, we lifted the last wall and secured everything. An extension ladder was used to get the metal roof on. The steps had me fretting, as I haven't built a set in years and I had to design them before I had the shed in the air. They fit perfectly! This is Tom's birthday, and he told his wife, "All I want for my birthday is that blind set up." He had called some friends and 9 rednecks showed up to build this deer blind! Everyone is welcome to use it, but it was designed for old folk and grandchildren. The stairs have short risers, and I'll build handrails next weekend. The inside is painted dark brown, there are two office chairs and a couple folding chairs, a stationary table with a propane heater under it and the floor has 18" square rubber backed commercial carpet. The blind has 360 degree windows and four archery windows, and shots can exceed 600 yards. Handrails, the table and shelf and my work will be complete!

We were talking about that! The call of nature must be answered. My question was odor control, you don't want to let that scent in the area. I was thinking a gravel filed pit with topsoil over it might be the best way to contain the odor. A garden hose or 3/4 inch PVC could be attached to the 4x4 support and adapted to the funnel. A small folding camp toilet with plastic bags handles our other problem, and the situation that our wives and his granddaughters present. I have designed this blind like mine, shelf, table, heater under the table, propane tank in the shelf of the archery window and a couple hooks for bows and jackets and a folding camp potty. The risers on the steps are short, 7 3/8 inches, so kids and old folks (like me) can get up them easily.
The deer have time to get used to the wood and stain, urine isn't an everyday thing. Deer aren't alerted by daily things, it's things out of the ordinary that scare them.
IE. deer are not afraid of the human scent, when a scent is where it is not expected that alerts them. They only know that something is different and that spells danger. The deer stand is there every day and will be familiar, human urine is foreign.
I used to be concerned about pissing where I pleased. Till a couple buddies went on a paid hunt, where the better their success the more they had to pay. The farmer/guide said “piss where you want. The deer don’t give two poop”.
So, when your motivated by money and have the experience…
