Finally spent time with my Charger.

Post by fisheadgib »

I bought a Charger a few years ago and aside from tossing the hideous plastic furniture and putting a Boyds laminate stock on it, I didn't get around to shooting it much. I gave it a Simmons 3x10-44mag that I had laying around and took it and a brick of .22lr Federal back to the range yesterday. Once I got the scope dialed in, I determined two things. One, the trigger sucks something awful. The other was that the barrel was too light.(for me) It twitched just enough on ever shot so that I couldn't see my impacts. The factory barrel was pretty accurate (CPJ suggested that it would be) but I want a heavy, unfluted barrel to help it sit still. Other than those two things, it's a hoot to shoot. I'm looking forward to getting my .22mag Charger running.

Going to replace or work the trigger?

It's too easy to rework the trigger, and new trigger parts are crazy high. Hanner shims are the only parts to buy and I have plenty of those.

Good deal. I love my charger.
