Two out of three ain’t bad…

Post by bullsi1911 »

Made a quick run to the range at lunch today to try my hunting load in 7.62x39 in the three guns I just might use it in. The load is a Sierra ProHunter .311 125 grain propelled by 24 grains of RL-7.

The guns are the Palmetto State KS-47 with a primary arms 3-9x50 scope, a CZ-527 Carbine with a Burris Timberline 2-7, and a Romanian WASR-10 with a crappy side mount and a Primary Arms 3x Prism.

The CZ rocked this load, but I already knew these were compatible:

Next was the PSA KS-47, which I had an inkling that they would play well together:

And they did. Pretty sure I’m gonna try and get a deer on this combo on opening weekend

Then the WASR…. Well, like I said- 2 out of 3 ain’t bad

I may try and run it into gel and water jugs in the next few weeks

Of frigging course…. I used up all the bullets loading up this batch. Figured “oh, I’ll buy more and load up a bunch and have some spare rounds the play with, maybe see how they do at longer ranges….”

So, of course they are sold out everywhere.

Have you ever tried the Hornady 123gr InterLock? I have not had a chance to try any reloads in my 527 yet, but it does not really care for any of the factory offerings I have tried. I need to get a wood stock for it some time. The composite one just doesnt feel or look right for the gun.

No, I have only tried the Sierra and the Winchester SP 123 grain. I hate to have to work up ANOTHER load, but if I can’t find the Sierra again… I might have tp

Those CZs are great guns by all accounts. Had I known then I would end up with an inkling for a .375 HH I would have scooped one up.
