Inexpensive Mattresses

Post by shotgunshooter3 »

TLDR: I need a relatively good quality mattress for a cheap price.

I am about to be in a temporary living situation for school for about six months, and need to purchase a mattress for my living accomodations. I anticipate not being able to move the mattress again at the end of school (I'm playing broke college student for the second time in my life) so I would prefer something on the cheaper side. However, I have lower back and neck issues that prevent me from going completely cheap (the el cheapo military mattresses overseas were nearly the death of me). I'm definitely willing to shell out a few hundred for a good enough mattress, but am not interested in paying thousands at this time.

Does anybody have experience with the various mail order memory foam mattresses, or some other (perhaps less advertised) source for quality mattresses?

There's one on the corner, 2 blocks east of here. Better hurry, some homeless guy is eyeballing it. :)

Seriously, I'm with jkp, we bought a Cali King foam from Amazon for $600, I'd look it up but it was on my wife's account, but it had a lot of legit looking reviews and we like it.

I'll bet you can find one in your price range for a smaller size.

Those memory foam ones aren't half bad for the price. Just make sure to get one at least 6" thick. 8"+ is even better.

With back issues, I would (and do) go to the local mattress outlet and lay on a few. I dont care how Janet from fresno loves the one she got online, Janet doesnt have my back

Do you have a Costco membership? There are several memoryfoam “bed in a box” options there for pretty cheap.

May sound dumb, but what about a cot? Reason I ask is my back feels better after sleeping on my $30 cot than it does in my mattress. I’m sure my mattress sucks, but just tossing it out.
