I'm glad I was OC'ing today

Post by GrapeApe »

I normally DON'T OC, just not a fan, HOWEVER, today was "severe clear", in the mid 60s and I didn't feel like wearing an untucked shirt, or any other cover garment. So I had my Dagger IWB but outside my tucked in tee-shirt.

Went to Montgomery and picked up my 10 year old granddaughter. She and I are going to make cherry wink Christmas cookies tomorrow, and she'll help granny bake cookies Saturday. (She's a little foodie)

Took the new Rav4 and stopped to fill it up with gas on the way home. A panhandler came up from my left as I was paying at the pump, and started giving me a bunch of crap. I ignored him, which seemed to make him even madder. I turned 180° to put the nozzle in the tank and when I did, he saw the pistol in my waistband, "OH, you're packing" and he decided to go harass people at other pumps.

Not only did I not threaten him in any way, I didn't even acknowledge his existence.

Would things have turned out differently if "Maverick" (what I've named that Dagger) had been concealed? I'll never know. What I DO know is, mr. panhandler seeing it changed his attitude quick, fast and in a hurry.

Glad you are OK, glad I don't live in area where panhandlers hassle me at the pump.

Not a general fan of OC. Think the concept is stupid, especially as many do it as a statement and not a tool. But, I do when I’m at the ranch from a practical field use and by myself. Sometimes when on the way two and from the ranch, I’ll stop for gas or run a quick errand. If I’m simply at the pump, I don’t cover it. If I go into an establishment, I’ll throw the tail of my shirt over the holster. Obvious as hell with the huge bulge on my side (flap holster), but it’s a due diligence to not be an obnoxious ass.
Small town Texas, nobody cares. Every once in awhile a glance. But, that’s it.

Wife: Hey, look at that guy.
Me: Yeah, I don't know what's worse, the haircut or open carrying.
Wife: You didn't notice the goats?
Me: Yeah, what's wrong with that?

I see a pattern forming, the only open carry I've witnessed was at the Paxton livestock auction.

Almost looks like there is no magazine.

98% of OC around here is done with Taurus or Highpoint in a nylon holster.

It ain’t for me. I’m not worried so much about a tactical disadvantage, I’m worried about having some douchewagon say something like “HELL YEAH! I SEE WE STAND TOGETHER AGAINST LIBTARDS!” Or have a soccer mom freak the fudge out and call the cops. My bicks dig enough I don’t need the compensation confrontation to feel superior.
But most importantly, I just want to be left the fudge alone. Go wherever Im going, get back home.

Looks like he's carrying "Condition 4" Empty chamber AND no mag.
I bet it's in his pocket and he'll tell you how quick he can draw his useless pistol, slap a mag in it and rack the slide

1. I don't like people.
2. I don't like people noticing me.
3. I don't like people noticing me with a gun.

Just my personal reasons.

I'd taken "Maverick" out of the holster for the drive, but something told me to put it back on the when I got out to get fuel. I've been "burned" enough times on different things when I haven't listened to that little voice, so I followed it, and am glad I did.

For the record, this wasn't some sketchy gas station, it's at a walmart marketplace <2 mi from here and until Thursday, neither the wife nor myself have EVER had a problem. It's where we regularly fuel up.

Remember, if you’re pumping gas and someone approaches you you can always hose them off with the nozzle.🤣
