He certainly earned his place amongst the firearms legends. RIP

I can’t imagine a world without one of his pistols.

Re: Gaston has left the building.
Honestly I didn't know he was still alive and I probably should have because I read the book telling the history of how the glock pistol began. It's actually a very good read. The guy had zero experience with firearms and basically decided to make a pistol for the military contract that he heard about during a water cooler discussion.

Quite the innovator. Took some aspects from multiple designs and perfected them.
You can hate the grip angle and think they are ugly plastic, but you can’t say they don’t work. I mean, it’s no “TWO WORLD WARS!” gun, but they do what they do very well.
And he ditched his first wife for a trophy wife. She’s a vegan but deals in horse cum and is into horse racing. Kind of yin yang. Not sure the overlap there, but there ya go.

I was referring to my new wife, Kathrin. I’d figure a vegan wouldn’t be into horse racing.jbp-ohio wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 11:22 pmSo you're telling me a Billionaire traded off the Old Mare for a young Philly??CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 10:40 pm Quite the innovator. I TOTALLY 100% WITHOUT QUESTION understand why someone who was broke AF would trade off a nag for someone half his age.
Let alone a billionaire.
See you nerds later. I’m off to Austria. I’ve got some courtin to do.

When you get there, please be sure to ask her: "Are they polymer?"CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:03 am I was referring to my new wife, Kathrin. I’d figure a vegan wouldn’t be into horse racing.

I think Ronnie Barrett is about the last pseudo-major player to actually have his name over the door and on his guns. Bill Ruger and Glock would have been the last of the Titans. Welcome to the age of design by faceless committee copying each other.

I shot my first Glock in ‘84 I believe. Or something around then. Got my first Glock in 91. I’ve had one or more ever since.

If I can touch them, they are real.

Re: Gaston has left the building.
I remember someone interviewed Glock and asked him the difference between plain old plastic and his "Space Age Polymer"?
He answered "How much you charge".
I also remember 60 Minutes doing a piece on Glocks when they first came out. "A plastic gun that is invisible to x-rays"! It was every hijackers dream!

Well I’m sure that when he got to heaven, Oliver Winchester, Roy Weatherby, Sam Colt, JM Browning and both Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson lined up to kick his ass!!!

Apparently a prettty badazz dude for real. One of his associates tried to have him killed and he beat the poop out of his attacker.

Re: Gaston has left the building.
I remember hearing that "invisible to x rays" statement. I wonder if such a blatant lie started by the all-steel competition. I also think he had zero experience with firearms. He got in the door by manufacturing entrench tools. I think the make things simple" statement describes a Glock perfectly. I went to armours' school at the Glock mfg. back about 30 years ago where we took down the pistol as far as possible with a Glock tool...a pin with a handle on it. I never got to use it because the Glock we had were pretty much bullet proof. Glock customer service is outstaning. Ol' Gaston changed the firearms world which in a same way as Sam Colt did 150 years ago.PFD45 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 3:25 pm I remember someone interviewed Glock and asked him the difference between plain old plastic and his "Space Age Polymer"?

Can't forget the all ceramic Glock 12 that costs as much as two months salary.
