I’ve been super busy since we got back and didn’t take the time to post here.

We had an amazing time. My boy hasn’t stopped talking about it since. Which is awesome. He had a great time and made me proud. It was tough on him, but he didn’t complain a bit. Just loved every minute of it. First, him coming down from Colorado to near 100 degree temp the first day, then near 90 the rest of the time. Sleep deprivation, dragging pigs, etc. He stepped up and loved it.

He got first blood on my 6.5 PRC with a perfect shot on his axis. Then followed that up with a nearly perfect shot on his pig with my 6mm ARC. Both did the job well.

Great times with great people. Awesome trip.

Also, we’ve got my boy HOOKED! Since we got back, he’s been talking about wanting to build or buy a rifle, tripod and thermal. He’s just gotta work it all out, having a fiancé and a wedding coming up this summer… poor guy..

Rifles, thermals, cans, etc are cheaper than a wife. And can be sold on the open market at will. Locked in a safe where they can’t make noise unless you want them to. They don’t bitch. They won’t cheat on you. I mean, the list goes on forever

Always a pleasure to have good folks on the ranch. Makes things fun.

He couldn’t make it at the last minute. Unfortunate.

When Zee says “I’ve got an idea.”

Maaaaybe think it through a little harder. Instead of saying “ok. I’m in. “

We planned to sit NEXT to the electronic caller and see if we could bring pigs to us. Me with my .300 BO abomination, he with his Kel-Tec .22.

Nothing came to play, which in retrospect was probably a good thing.

But there IS next year.

Jay, the French model, shot his new built 6.5 PRC for the first time past 100 yards.
First shot cold bore at 700 yards!!!! I think the rifle shoots exceptionally and the shooter got lucky. 😎

Yeah. A good shooting rifle and a bit of luck worked out well. I just plugged all the info into my ballistic app, dialed, got wind calls from Zee and sent it. I was extremely happy with the results. The rifle needs a few adjustments. A better scope mount and slightly different scope position will happen in the near future. But it has proven itself worthy of the time and investment.

After the cold bore shot, it took me three tries to hit the “low hanging fruit.” I should have just quit after the cold bore shot.

It was a great time. Great friends. Jackassery. Pig hunting and shooting. Awesome food. Absolutely awesome Pigfest. Definitely missed JB.

Yes. Solid time with solid dudes. It’s just a financial drain to make the trip!
Well not the TRIP, but the aftermath of buying stuff you were enabled into buying.

I’ve decided to not say “I’m not buying that, I don’t need that” etc, and instead will say “lemme see this cork stuffer.”
Then saying “fudge you, ______ (insert name) to whoever let me fondle their stuff.

So, a thought on the “cost of the trip…”. Look at CPJ’s awesome b&w pic of all of us with our rifles and tripods above… I’m not gonna say my guess on how much that stuff cost. But every bit of it was enabled…. And it’s freakin awesome!

I even beat a pro bass fisherman in a 20min derby on my home stock tank! Yeah. They weren’t all bass. But, they were the only fish.
