Thank you. I probably could have afforded to have cleaned it up a bit before taking the picture though.

That is a lot of work!!
Curious is the frame cast? I wondered if this was an original manufacture error.

I dont believe that it was cast but I could be wrong. As far as I can tell they machined the front of the frame out of square and also the threads were crooked. It was hell to make a guide tool to indicate the frame in based off of the cylinder being installed but it worked really well by having that tool stick out of one of the front cylinder bores with the cylinder installed and locked in place.

I believe Colt experimented with frame castings years ago, but didn't really put it into production. Ruger, I believe is the only major company who uses frame castings.

We have been looking at Amazon Houses with a jaded eye, wondering how they would handle snow load and thawing and freezing

I was really looking at some of those collapsible container size 'cabins'. Saw some that can be picked up for $6-8k. That would simplify the build, and I could cart one in myself on a trailer. But just having a shipping container carted in is an attractive option as well. Stronger, more secure, and I can build out the inside how I want.

First step is to get a reliable road built to the possible cabin site.

I dont know how much longer I can be nice to people that have zero common sense or courtesy. Some people can be purely entitled.

I had one customer call me 4 times on Sunday, 2 minutes apart. He left 2 voice-mails, one which was to tell me that he took his gun apart and couldn't get it back together. The problem is that he listened to my business hours on my voice-mail message and still blew up my phone. I finally answered and yelled at him.

A guy yesterday showed up to my shop 3 hours before I even opened and called me 3 times, also listening to my business hours when he left a voice mail every time asking where I was at and telling me that he was waiting outside.

Had a guy call me on Easter Sunday about putting sights on his glock when I was at families, hiding eggs for the kids.

Had a guy call me on Christmas day. He didn't get the opportunity to even talk, outside of starting to talk about gun work he wanted done.

And then there are the people terrified of answering an unfamiliar number so they send me to voice-mail only for their box to be full or not set up, so I sit on their finished gun while it takes up space in my safe and I dont get paid for it. One guy got kinda shìtty after that happened and he called me 5 weeks later asking if his gun was finished. I told him that he sent me to voice-mail and his mailbox wasn't set up. That's when he told me he doesn't answer unfamiliar numbers incase it's a spam call. I said, "I hope you don't ever have a family member get in an accident and they borrow someone's phone to call you." You could see the gears turning.

I just have a hard time dealing with stupidity.

You think they actually listened? Ha!

Several years ago I was selling tickets for a golfing event. Had a poster with all the details. Can't begin to count how many times I told folks what tickets cost, where it was, when it was, if food was included (yes, that's the complimentary pork barbecoe..), what meat was served, and even answered if the tickets were for a golf tournament.

I've answered the work phone with the name of the folks I work for, and still had to answer what agency I worked for.

I won't tell you about going over blueprints when I worked construction.

You're probably right. They probably blank out until they hear the tone to start talking. But to do that 4 times is just plain ridiculous. My wife told me that I shouldn't go off on those people and I told her that I don't want those dumbasses as customers anyways because I have alot of good folks that I appreciate that also appreciate me.

There's a lot to be said for being able to select your customers.

I also think too many people nowadays believe the customer is always right to be too true, and take the idea "you work for me" to the point of ownership. Plus, with modern communications, the ability to work anywhere and any time is now the norm when it should be the exception.

I really don't like to contact people about work outside of business hours.

People have said "the customer is always right" for a long time. The self entitled people of today believe it.

Having a job in life safety one which covers a lot of old folks homes who are governed pretty strictly on maintaining fire protection systems, I get called on occasion by VERY SELECT customers whom I’ve given my number to. Ones I know won’t abuse the privilege. And ones that I know IF they are calling me there’s something they can’t fix by themselves.
We are on call at work, so fellow techs will call each other if we get stuck. Just part of it. But it’s the exception not the rule.

If the calling number isn't in my contacts, they hear a greeting:

"Please state your name and why your'e calling."

I see a text of their response and can press answer. They usually hang up.

At least you guys have your voice-mail set up. I'm griping about the morons that send me to voice-mail and it's full or not set up and then I have to store their guns which at times can cause me to have to decline work (my safe stays that full) and its money and time I have tied up just sitting there. Oh, on another note, I did finish the Colt Anaconda and test fired it today. It's superb. The barrel was so crooked to the left that the rear sight was jacked so far to the right that the adjustment screw was almost falling out.
