We have been also, but, at least at my cousins they had a bumper crop. Very rainy spring/early summer.

The moisture content of corn is a factor in determining the price. If it has to be dried there is a charge for that or the grower would need a grain dryer. The risk is weather if left in the field too long.
Higher moisture content in silage is a benefit.

I had a guy guve me a Stevens model 94 shotgun, break action in 12 gauge. It's in descent shape but could use some TLC. It has the plastic (can't remember the name of it) forearm and is missing the buttstock and I can't find one for cheap except a guy doing the auction on ebay and I don't care to compete with NPC's. I'm thinking of making an adapter to use a buffer tube and AR stock . I also want to make a barrel in another caliber but haven't determined exactly what yet.

Saw one f those recently n decent shape for cheap and was wondering how difficult it would be to sleeve the barrel and make a 45-70 single shot out of it…

It's actually pretty easy to do. You basically cut the shotgun barrel at about the end of the chamber, bore it out in the lathe with it indicated in and thread it for the tenon of a new barrel, then machine a blank to fit it. I've done a few. The one I liked the most was one that I turned into a 45 Colt that the customer called a Saddle Gun. I'd like to stick with something I already have a bunch of ammo for or something widely available and cheap(ish).

I have a 20 ga single shot that I bought for my youngest son years ago. It kicks like a mule!!!

Would It be possible to sleeve it to shoot .38 Sp or .357? I know the 20 gauge barrel is small.

If it's an NEF your best bet would be get a donor barrel, cut it to a stub and have a barrel threaded into the stub. Or better yet find a barrel already chambered to 357 or 357 Max. I know a website where that is discussed.

Main thing of note is bolt thrust, well case thrust, bigger the case head bigger the force pushing against the action. Shotgun actions aren’t as stout as their rifle counterparts in handy rifles. If I recall the only non-shotgun rounds that H&R would chamber on the shotgun frame was the .357

It definitely isn't going to be anything high pressure but I have seen factory guns chambered as such in things like 22 Hornet. I was thinking something like 357 Mag. I think it would be fun to shoot suppressed with 38 special as well.

Yep, that's the description I was attempting to give to Wambli. I think you made it easier to understand though. Here's the one I did in 45 Colt. Don't have a better picture but I hot blued it too. Also did one for a guy in 9mm now that I think about it.

My buddy is trying to talk me into 500 S&W. I said no, because of what Chris described. The actions on some (including this one) are strong but I don't trust them THAT much. 44 would be cool though. Could always load them down for suppressed too.

Graybeard outdoors has Handi rifle 101 that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know. The SB2 (Handi Rifle) barrels will fit on the SB1 (Shotgun) Frame.
The shotgun Frame is softer and won't handle high pressure cartridges. You should be able to find a pistol caliber barrel for your needs and not have to modify one. They also have want and want to buy forums.

I do have an H&R 12 gauge. I cut the barrel down to 18”, and painted it. Which was dumb in retrospect. Wish I’d have kept it as new. Cause I bought it new from Kmart, maybe Walmart, for the princely sum of around $80. Of course, that’s been…..30 plus years ago. Now I don’t see them for less than $200.

One of the cheap Turkish made singles would be a good donor for a .22 hornet….

I was talking with TennMike about a 22 Bee I think it was when he took a turn first the worst. The .357 rifle and Lee reloading book he gifted make me think of him each time I pick them up. Sure miss our friend

Mine is an H&R Model 088 Jr. I am surprised at how thick the barrel is at the chamber/breech.

I hate to trade it or sell it. It is definitely not a kid’s gun.

I miss him too - and BC as well.

The Browning Hi Power is what the 1911 should have been. Change my mind . But seriously though, I'll own one some day. I was pleasantly surprised to fondle a Springfield copy. Very nice pistol.

For some reason I want one. Idk that I’ve ever held one. I just want one.

The CZ 75 is what the BHP should have been.
