E, you've owned more vehicles since I've known you, than I've owned in my lifetime (excluding spousal vehicles)

I'm currently on my 5th, which clicked over 200k earlier this year.

I had an uncle that spent his life in the car business. When I was still a teen, he gave me some advice that I've lived by ever since, "The only way you, as the consumer, win in the car business is to buy it new, maintain it well, and run it 'til the wheels fall off.
It's worked out well for me so far.
I got rid of my previous EDD after 13 years and 186k, mainly because my needs changed and a 2wd, 4cyl, 5spd manual regular cab pick-up could no longer do what I needed it to. My current EDD is a 17 year old (actually 18, I bought an '07 in '06) 4wd, 6cyl, auto, Access cab that still does everything I need it to.

Good for you brother. The views of a car professional have nothing to do with my personal finances, I have an accountant for that. Everyone’s math is different, so are budgets and priorities. My vehicles are tax deductions and I’ve made money on all of them. I don’t piss away $$$$$s on losing propositions.

Ex. Bought a really low miles mommy mall crawler 2012 Jeep to see if I wanted back into the Jeep culture (yeah it kind of is a culture). Bought it from Carvana, used it as my personal company vehicle so a tax deduction. Also billed my other employer for mileage to the tune of thousands of dollars in one year, ran it for 25,000 miles in that year of particularly heavy use both business and personal and sold it back to Carvana for $1,000 less than what I paid. My life is ruled by Excel spreadsheets.

Went for a better test dive today all by myself.

This is why you need sturdy tires around here, MILES of roads like this…. I was out for 4 hours on my own. New tires did GREAT with zero cuts or loss of rubber chunks anywhere. No rubbing even in some good flex points and much better ride than stock. Definitely doing a leveling kit, would love the extra 2” clearance in the front and losing the “rake”.
