Magpul is advertising that the new Ruger has "many configurations" on Instagram.

People are commenting that you can get one frame size in black and Grey. Not exactly "many."

I seriously don't get the appeal of the drop-in, serialized fire control module. If you don't like how it feels, BUY A DIFFERENT GUN. If you want a different size, BUY A DIFFERENT GUN. If you're changing out the complete bottom and top halves to get the configuration you want, guess what? YOU'VE BOUGHT A DIFFERENT GUN! And when you just BUY A DIFFERENT GUN, hey, presto, YOU HAVE MULTIPLE FUNCTIONING GUNS, not one gun over here and a nearly complete gun's worth of useless parts piled up over there.

Useful if you live in a commie state that requires you to list weapons for concealed carry on your license, or one where they restrict purchases.

This Ruger won't make the CA roster due to its lack of idiot features, and the Gen 3 Glock it copies is still available due to being grandfathered.

Your logic is invalidated by Sacramento's illogic.

I feel kind of the same way about ARs:
“Just get a new upper and it’s a .450 Bushmaster!
“A new lower is dirt cheap. Now I have TWO ARs!”

Appeals to their potential LE department sales. One list of serial numbers/guns, different configurations to fit the officers and the DEI ranks must haves…

Maybe. . .

For whatever reason, Ruger hasn't actively pursued the LE market, nor has the LE market particularly gone after them.

HK tried to go after the LE market with the USP's multi-mode configurable fire control system. Individual HK fanboy officers bought it, but very few agencies did because of the higher cost. Those agencies that wanted DA/SA with decockers bought Sigs; those that wanted DAO bought the DAO platform of their choice; those that approved cocked and locked single action typically "accepted no substitutes" and put 1911's in their holsters.

Granted, this Ruger is cheaper, but the "DEI ranks" have generally been coping just fine with Gen 1 through 5 grips. The .40 was their bigger problem, and now that it's gone, our need to remediate has plummeted.

If we want to make real progress for the small handed, we've got to get over capacity numbers for number's sake and pursue duty-sized guns with narrower mags. Ten to 15 rounds that fits the hand over 15-20 that doesn't. All that's really needed there is a duty holster with "big gun" retentions scaled down to Glock 48's and P365 Macro proportions. Trying to shave the frame for a 1980's double stack mag to work with little hands is like trying to pack the front of a size 14 shoe to fit a size 7 foot - you can do it, but it ain't ever gonna be ideal.

If your agency can pull off a "thou shalt carry a platform compatible with Glock 17 mags", you have my envy. If multiple things are authorized, that selling point is out the window.

It remains to be seen. Ruger did, in fact, target the LE market with their 9mm back in the 1990s, I suppose to compete with Glock, and the pistol was pretty bad. Hopefully, Ruger has matured.

For now, I'll stick with Glock...uh, if I had a Glock. I don't have one and don't need one, I say "NEED", dammit.

Weather didn’t give us a chance to do any shooting.

IMO serialized FCUs are marketing genius. Sig sells new slide assemblies for the cost of nearly a new gun, and plastic grip modules for probably 100x what they cost to make. More importantly, they can catch the impulse buyer far easier than a new gun. Way easier to hook someone on something that can ship right to their door vs having to go through a FFL.

The FCU isn’t any big deal either way for me, other than I wouldn’t mind farting around with printing some frames just to do it.

One nice thing though, you can have a new “complete” gun without paying the complete gun tax. Big deal? No. Earth shattering? No. But taking back a little money from uncle Donnie Blumpkin and his associates is never a bad thing.

Oh, those that sell FCUs, frames, and slides separately probably make waaaay more money than those who sell complete firearms.

Genius.

Soon, if not already, the drawings will be available for download where one could home brew the entire thing.

I have conversed with someone who was going to produce a very similar product. Make the Glock FCU, sell frames or whole guns etc. This was certainly before Ruger started this one. I’m guessing he’s now given up.

The only Rugers I have ever liked are their wheel guns. The GP100 is unmatched in my opinion.
Every Ruger semi auto I’ve held and shot felt like an abomination - such as the P89.

Of the all the Glock clones I have fondled, I really like the PSA models.. though to me they feel more like Glock meets FN, rather than a pure Glock clone.

I like the grip on my 2 PSA Daggers, as well

Well, it goes bang when you pull the trigger. Performed flawlessly with over 100 rds through it today. Shoots left. May be us. Maybe the gun.

It was comfortable to shoot. And it’s my first time shooting a “Glock”.

they do make some interesting shapes. This one was a 300gr Barnes X in 45-70 fired at 1" boiler plate, not hardened steel. still weighs 298Gr BTW
Gave it to my dad and he had it gold plated and made into a tie tac.

It’s Ammo Inc. brand ammo. That’s all I know. I meant to look at the box flap but got busy and forgot.
