Well Remington Core Lock in 30-06 is now $30s-40s depending on retail outlet so I guess, welcome to the new world.

Taking a page from Sig's book in a less "alternate lifestyle" bullet diameter. I predict this won't go anywhere, but I've been wrong before. IMO the 7mm PRC has a much higher likelihood of sticking around.

I agree.
But, I ain’t giving up my .280 Remington or my 7RM for the PRC either.
I will let my 7 RUM go to anyone interested. Ammo and reloading dies to boot.

The .277 Sig should have been a .284, but that doesnt sound amazing to the group most likely to buy it. I see this going the route of the .224 Valkyrie. Came out to a whole bunch of fanfare but somewhat quickly faded away to a somewhat small following. Every now and then I still see a box on a store shelf, but not often around where I live.

Same overall length as a 7RM, but .30-06 case diameter. So it gets you one or maybe two extra rounds in the magazine. I dont see that as a big enough advantage to offset the disadvantages it brings.

I'd like to serve this one across the net to Zee to see what he makes of it. . .

My own hunting experience has resulted in optimizing my rifles for LESS range, not more. I've set myself up with point blank trajectories that allow a kill on a 6" tall target to about 300 yards without a need to holdover. Yes, I'm set up with a rangefinder and CDS dials on my scopes just in case, but given that of the seven deer my father & I have killed in our zone, the longest was 175 yards, I don't find myself craving "MORE" out of my ammo.

Your experiences may of course vary. That said, the physics of a bullet's flight dictate that you're going to be REALLY hard pressed to get a point blank trajectory beyond about 400 yards. Once you get beyond that, it becomes a matter of ranging and either clicking in or holding over with whatever wazoo reticle you've chosen. This will be the case whether you're shooting "cowboy" loads out of a .45-70, or NATO's greatest .338 Lapua.

Regardless of the round, at that point, it becomes an exercise in artillery in which you need to know and adjust for your trajectory and the wind of the given day. Once you can do that, I have to ask just how much one of these whizz-bang rounds gets you over the next???????

Illustrative of this - maybe - I recently re-read Herbert McBride's WW1 autobiography A Rifleman Went to War. Being the long range competition and trained machine-gun stud that he was, he stated that in trench warfare, he actually felt the more "rainbow" trajectory of the .303 British gave an advantage over the German's flatter shooting 8x57 because it's plunging arc gave your burst more chance of falling into the enemy's cover than flying harmlessly over it. MORAL: If you put in the time and really know your equipment, what that equipment is may not matter all that much.

100 FPS means a lot at distance. 33 inches drop at 1000 with this example. This is on the REALLY extreme end, but that’s what I have saved in my pics.

100 fps gains you 3” less drop at 400 for reference.

If it ends up being a start of new brass design (that is reloadable and feasible, and sprinkles out to other case designs), that would be a good thing.
I am not opposed to others spending their hard earned money on a gun related item that they want.
In terms of a can, if the suppressor you have is rated for a larger cartridge with a shorter barrel, you should be good to go.

For a non-reloader to gain 120 fps is probably going to appeal to a lot of people. That is like stepping up in cartridge size.
We like new shiny toys.

I am curious about the recoil impulse compared to a bigger case going the same speed...Not enough to get one though.
