How did they/you discover the cancer?

I believe I've had it for two years. I thought it was a callus after biting my tongue a few times. Three dentists never said a word about cancer, The last said I should have it looked at by an oral surgeon. When that surgeon saw it he was concerned. He stated he could remove it but was afraid it was advanced and I needed more surgery than he could perform. Enter Dr Kim, an ENT surgeon. Korean gentleman with an heir and bedside manner I haven't seen in a medical professional in years. It didn't take long for me to figure out who and what I was dealing with so I asked my wife to join us in the exam room, She was, like I was a Navy Corpsman for many years. He expedited everything and his staff was great. He relieved a lot of my stress and prepared us for what I was about to endure no matter the outcome. I went into surgery confident and resolute.

I'm still on the fence on how to deal with the dentist office,this is malpratice.

I believe in the healing power of prayer. I have on two other occasions seen (not for me) seen miraculous things happen that defy logical explanation. I have met three people with the gift/power of healing, one was a Navy Corpsman I worked with. They were amazing people, when they touched you, you felt them. I'd swear I felt three others in this ordeal, a preacher that was collecting money at the local store for a women's shelter, who after I donated some money stopped me and knew I was in trouble, he asked if he could pray for me, my body tingled. My priest, who when administering the Sacrament of the Sick, gave me goose bumps all over and I weept. The third was Dr. Kim's resident, Dr Liz. A Chinese American woman who grew up five minutes from where my wife lived and attended the same universities as my wife. She did the primary exam on me and when she palpated my neck I could feel her, not just her hands but her! Three other times in my life I have felt that, my Navy Corpsman friend, a man I went through EMT training with. and Dr. Wilson my childhood doctor. If you've never experienced it, it is a very strange, shocking and wonderful thing.

I'm still on the fence on how to deal with the dentist office. This was malpratice. If they had said it could be cancer I could have had it removed in an outpatient procedure I didn't need to have major surgery, excessive tissue and taste buds removed, scares, deformity and pain I'm now experiencing. To sue them would be just! This type of cancer is very aggressive and deadly in it's second stage, yet, after two years it was removed in an early stage, I'm dumbfounded. To sue would affect the malpratice insurance copay more then the dental practice and would drive home the point for better training and exams. I could sure use the money as I don't have much. On the other hand I could sit down with the head dentist, explain what happened and demand training for his staff so nobody else would ever have to put up with this. My last dentist's hygienists were thorough and constantly searching for signs of oral cancer. I'm living a conumdrum.

Enough of my rant. It felt good to type this and ponder my nest steps.

Gun fund money from an insurance company, talk to a lawyer, they won't charge you for the consult, they should be able to tell you in 5 minutes if you have a case.

Dentists are supposed to be the first line of defense for a bunch of diseases like mouth cancer and even AIDS. When they don’t do their job by thorough screening for these conditions people suffer and even die. You paid good money for medical care, now they need to be responsible for their negligence. As Chiro said, find a good attorney and talk to them. It’ll cost you nothing and then at least you’ll know your options. No sense wasting your time ”living in a conundrum” if you don’t know what your actual factual options are.
