I agree with all of you that tang sights with globe fronts are absolutely cool looking on lever guns and even practical on some, and I have that setup on a few LR “cowboy” guns. But this guy is just meant to be a nice saddle scabbard gun for snap offhand shooting and plinking. I’m used to the buckhorn rear for that so I’ll try it in current config before “upgrades”.

Now, if you’ll all excuse me, I have to go practice my John Wayne shootin’face!!!

Oh I’m also ordering the saddle ring for it as soon as the stainless ones come back in stock. 😎

Here are my two Rossi’s in .45 Colt. They are fun guns and the short one is handy and light as hell.

I’d have to look them up. XTPs and WFN-GC bullets.

Cool. I have an ample supply of XTPs in my possession. Now they can go to a good use.

Offending parts have been deleted. Installed the stainless follower already so no pic. The stainless new one is a cheap upgrade. Glad Rossi decided to get rid of the old F and S deep stamps on the bolt body in favor of a single red dot that will come out with a toothpick and some nail polish remover.

I also decided to order the blue saddle ring. The stainless won’t be available for probably two months and I took a long hard look and I like the idea of the contrast of the dark agains the stainless and it will match the finish on the sights.

Thanks! For anyone interested here are the parts suppliers, two really nice companies.

The safety delete and the Stainless follower (a very worthwhile upgrade) came from the Online Outpost. Ive bought stuff from them before and they are a great quality, fast shipping and they have been supplying the SASS community for a long time. Pretty much every model lever action I buy gets the automatic upgrade to their SS followers because I've seen the plastic ones that come from the factory fail a few times so I don't trust them.

The saddle ring, came from Beartooth Mercantile, another well known SASS vendor and again someone I've done business with before. He was out of the Stainless version and restocking was 6 weeks out, well outside my Adult ADHD parameters, so I ordered the blue and now I'm glad I did, the contrast looks good on the gun. His SR is better priced than other competitors and just as high in quality.

All the parts are REALLY reasonably priced and both upgrades take only minutes and require one punch (safety delete) and the proper screwdrivers and a paper clip for the Saddle Ring which takes the place of the lever screw. The instructions with pictures are online and easy to find.
