Re: One of my grails!!
There were more than a few “lust worthy” guns at T&T guns and ammo in the 80’s when I was a kid. A whole rack 15 feet long of old Winchesters……..Waipapa13 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:57 amYeah, just about the only two companies I can think of that produce a man sized .22 in volume.Elk Creek wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 11:57 pmThem and CZ. Makes me wonder why CZ ever discontinued the 452! Hell raise the price, just don’t disco it!shotgunshooter3 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 11:52 pm Great find! I've always liked those 77/22's. I feel like Ruger was one of the few companies that did the "adult scale" .22 bolt gun well.
I lusted after a 77/22 Hornet in the exact same stainless and laminate combo as yours when I was a kid.
LGS had one for sale for about two years, but it just wasn't in reach of a 14 y.o at the time.

From my experience with Bushnell optics, I didn't know that they made any "good ones".Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 10:39 pm Wow, that’s a beauty!!! Don’t throw out the Bushnell, that’s one of the good ones if it’s still clear and the adjustments work![]()

Quite a few actually. They’ll never be Leupold but there are a few of them on vintage guns that have been doing the job for decades.fisheadgib wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 1:36 amFrom my experience with Bushnell optics, I didn't know that they made any "good ones".Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 10:39 pm Wow, that’s a beauty!!! NICE!
I was wobbling on those at the time the CZ 452 hit the U.S. market. At the price they hit the market at, plus a gun shop employee discount, ownership of a 77/22 never got a chance. I doubt Ruger was too offended - I bought enough of their other stuff.

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

The 77/22 has always been a high end product that commanded a premium price. It was never a kid’s .22. Ruger has had its up/down with barrels over the years so some shoot amazing and others are average. The good news is that there are some incredible aftermarket options out there if you end up with a meh shooter. Trigger jobs are not that complicated either and there are aftermarket triggers just like the center fire cousins. And I find it easier to cost justify expenses to upgrade a 77/22 than sinking the same $$$ into a 10/22.
