And in case anyone does not know the difference between the two .22 cartridges this will show it clearly.
Basically a .357 mag vs. .38 Spl thing.

Yeah there was a transition period between the old style single chambering dedicated guns and the convertibles. Yours is a pretty early gun!

Does the serial number on tour’s have a dash in it? I don’t remember when the change to the new numbering system happened. That’s when Ruger only made ONE type of SS Cylinder and bored it for the chambering they needed. As you said we weren’t stupid back then.
Mine is a 20-100xx, I think it’s 1968 the new model came out in 1972. Mine has both cylinders that are externally identical.

Over the years I’ve tried to learn as much as I can about these early Rugers but like many gun companies before computer records the stories etc are dependent on folks memories and other subjective sources. Add to that the fact that back then they were using leftover parts to make guns, changing model names and serial number format AND you could still order non standard guns from Ruger and all you get is generalized best effort guesses as to what went down when

Went shooting on Friday and not only was it brutally cold in the desert but the wind was whipping!!!!! So I only got one video of me shooting the 1885 with BP rounds and I’m sooooooo hooked!!! It I can’t post videos here… Unfortunately the wind dissipated the cloud of smoke so fast it was gone in seconds! Our shooting session was short since I could not feel my fingers after about 15 mins.
I also shot the new Ruger and shot 3 cylinders of the WRS ammo though it and it did not disappoint at all. I got hits n anything I laid the front blade on even out to about 75+ yards. It’s a hoot to shoot with the “specials”
And on a cool note I had NO holsters for a 6.5” Single-Six because I gave all of them to my son for the custom stainless convertible I gifted him. I HATE having handguns without a holster so I put in 3 RIDICULOUS offers for 3 different uses like new classic Bianchis and guess what, all sellers said yes so I now have 3 holsters coming my way

Not a bad beginning of 2026!

Hope your garage has A/C, otherwise summer months will be brutal. Had to do all my reloading in the winter months when I lived in AZ.

AC and heat for the winter. So I can work in there all through the year. And a full size garage fridge for after reloading drinks

Once you figure out seller psychology it’s amazing how well you can do on eBay…

The one in the right is a. Intake Bianchi Monrovia, CA. The left one is a new-old-stock made in the USA. The one in the middle is one of the desirable Made by Bianchi for Ruger and the 6.5” for .22 SA ones are tough to find.

I like that Ruger holster. I suspect it would fit my old Model Super Single Six.
