It was funny watching the panic today. I was grabbing some last minute staples and getting extra gas and propane. Apparently so was literally everyone else. I live in a very rural county with only 14000 residents. Literally every single one of them was doing the same. Funny to see a small town overun by the country hoard.

Just arrived at the daughters house to get sit. Atlanta is all but in panic mode. After taking them to the airport in the morning I ain't going anywhere. News just announced they are expecting a ice storm.

We were in the “ it may not be that bad area”. Now we’re in “Oh Crap!!!!!” area. Idk what we’re gonna get but I suspect we’ll be without power for 2-3 days
No generator. But have a few lights and plenty of batteries. One full 20 lb propane tank for the grill and part of another. Coleman propane gas stove and extra bottles. Natural gas log insert in the den fireplace. We can close off the rest of the house. We can survive. Won’t be fun.
My youngest son, his wife, 3 yo grandson and 7 wk old granddaughter are here. Plus their 2 small house house dogs.
Fun times are a-coming’.

I am REALLY hoping they’ve overhyped this storm and it turns out to be a dud.

We got about 1/4” of snow but it’s cold…..that said Aako and I didn’t get to the shops. I-25 in Colorado is dicy on sunny dry roads, sketchy when it’s cloudy and down right dangerous with 4, yes 4 flakes of snow. It’s Mad Max type $**T with actual snow. Did I mention cold?

Currently sitting at 5 degrees here. Got about an inch of fluff overnight. Really can't complain compared to where I used to live in the midwest!

Was -25 when I got up before light this am, currently sitting at -5. It's tough on the turkeys and other back yard critters. If they weren't before, they're now full time eating machines.

We are supposed to get a foot of snow but only 4 inches so far. My only worry is getting things started so I can feed the cows. I don't calve as early as some people just because of this kind of weather but I know some people that are. The cows should be fine as long as I can keep hay out but the worst part was the huge temperature change. It was 60 early this week and 5 this morning.

It just started here in Ohio. They keep changing the predictions but now it's potentially 8 to 14" (that's what she said

.)
I'm ready for Summer. My diabetic, poor circulation doesn't like any of this. I'm also down from 254lbs to 230 and feel colder already. Winter is stupid because all of my hobbies are outdoors

Our local utility provider asked us to decrease electricity usage since the grid is stressed today, neighboring towns are in the same boat with their local utility providers. Gas company, I assume Centerpoint, called one of our larger local businesses this week and told them they had to shut down their painting operations with one hour notice because of load on their grid, $20,000 per hour fine for noncompliance, first time that has happened, we have been way colder during polar vortexes, but, Somali daycares are doing well, so there is that

We're getting hammered in western Pa. They expect 10-16 inches. Temps are in the low teens in the day and -2 at night. This will not improve for at least a week. I have everything I staged where I need it. The backup heater and 20 lb tank of propane is on the porch, I bought extra food, beer and wine yesterday. I bought salt two days ago. The batteries for my snow blower, cell phone and power pack are charged. Head lamps, flash lights and battery lamps have been checked and staged. The only thing left to do is watch it snow.
The morning news is rerunning from last night! No live news!
I was scheduled for an MRI this morning but the heavy snow will be starting at 7am, I'm going to miss this one and will have to wait another month and a half for another appointment.
