1938 through 1939 action, which means the park should be green like the safe if not rebbled, so it was a leftover action bbled for the war. I would be interested in the stampings on the stock and bolt handle. I dont recognize them. I would look for a star on the bbl under the wood.
Price is probably fair because the receiver is drilled and its a rebuild. He could probably get more depending on the buyer.

Honestly for the right buyer it is still worth $650.
Me personally, I would offer $500 just because I have a soft spot for sporterized 1903's thanks to Ernest Hemingway.
