My next project will be a CVA Kentucky rifle. The kid I made the T/C Hawken bought two kits for $100, One was the T/C, the other a CVA Kentucky rifle. He gave me the CVA, but there are a few minor parts missing. That's no big deal, as parts are available. I'll keep this one to extend my deer season. I'm still pondering the SxS stock project. I went to a gun show last weekend and bought a stock blank for $25. It has the right shape and cast, so the issue now is the in letting. I won't do this job for someone I don't know, so I'll offer to buy this SxS before I start the project. The other consideration is to fabricate it and if he doesn't sell me the gun, I can sell the stock. The cheapest I've seen so far is $350. I want another SxS, I foolishly sold a Stevens 311 16 gauge I had restored before I left Ca.

I suppose I'm hardly likely to find an original Hawken here in the U.K. For some reason I have a copy of a book 'Hawken Rifles The Mountain Man's Choice' by John D. Baird. I can't recall where I acquired it. Now inspired to read it in detail. I guess something similar is available in modern kit form here.
