I think most of the guns I’ve bought on GB have been with autobid. If it’s something I really wanted, I’ll throw a reasonable number in there and decide what to do if I’m outbid. Where autobid gets me in trouble is finding something cheap that would be cool, throw a stupid low number in there thinking I’ll get outbid, and end up getting it… That’s why I stay off GB.

My problem right now is I have a number in mind that I’d pay. (To be fair this is already over what I thought I would pay when this started)
So I’m thinking “X is ALL I’ll pay!”
Then I think….”well, let’s just bump it up $5. “

I mean I’ve justified spending more. What’s a little more on top?

I think that’s kinda where autobid doesn’t work so well. You either have to know you’re going to quit on it when it goes over your number, or be willing adjust as needed. Hard to set a number on something when other people play a part in what it will sell for. It really works for picking stuff up cheap when you don’t get outbid. Otherwise, it almost just works better to follow the item in question until it’s last hour, then jump in at the very end if it’s what you’re willing to spend. Not always possible for guys who work for a living. Which is where autobid comes in again.

I also have no doubt some sellers on there have someone bump the bid up for them with no fear of actually having to buy it if they accidentally win..

From the prices I’ve seen, this is still worth it to me.
IF I could inspect it in person, or IF I could inspect and return it.

But after buying, shipping, and transferring, it could easily be a $450 mistake.

Poop. I wanted that. Oh well.

Sounds like you need to send JBP some $$$ and your FFL's contact information
