I've developed a slight love / mostly hate relationship with steel. I won't say it doesn't have its place, but:

Unless you own the range and can leave it set up, it's a heavy PITA.

While the ringy-dingy feedback is nice, shooting it at "practical-use" handgun distances puts everyone involved in the shrapnel radius. as Chris found out.

It doesn't matter if the manufacturer says it's "rifle rated" past 100 yards or whatever - guys are going to want to shoot various tactical drills with their AR's at 50 yards and crater the face, which renders it more of a shrapnel hazard for handgun use - even if the stand is angled to deflect downward.

We're no longer using a range that allows us to use the stuff, but I REALLY don't miss it unless it's for 200+ yard rifle. If you want to do a lot of shooting on reactive targets, put out a memo to your friends requesting all the plastic bottles, dog food and soup cans they can muster. The plus side is that if we DO go back to shipping our recyclable items to Red China for processing, the riddled remnants will give their analysts something new to think about. :)

We are all supposed to be an example to others, no one ever said that it had to be a good example. I am kinda on the side of eyes and ears in most things anymore since I figured out I wasnt immortal anymore.

I have 5 pairs of those (Nemeisis branded, same same) in my work van in various forms of clear, clear with old man focals, and sunglasses.
I had one pair of the sunglasses version in my truck when I was shooting.
Not 10’ from me.

I was just doing a dumbing.

I admit to being stubborn in the past about eye protection.
As body parts continue to fail in my old age, I’m more apt to protect those I have left.
One area I am still adamant bout is not using eye pro while shooting scoped rifles.
If anything, I will wear eye pro a look just over the top of them and through my scope. Something about using a high dollar piece of glass and then looking through it with a Pennie’s worth of plastic/glass in between just doesn’t make sense.

I don’t talk to her any more than I have to. I’ve gone well over a day without saying or hearing a word.
Matter of fact, I didn’t tell her anything about what happened. 🤷‍♂️

Lucky bastage. I come home and have to hear all about her day at work that I not only don't care about but don't have a clue wtf she's talking about. The only quiet time I get is when she's pissed at me for lord knows what.

There’s nothing like the tranquility of an endmill plowing through steel at 5000 RPM.

It really is though. Just did so today doing an rmr cut on a H&K VP9 slide, granted it was 2500rpm's but same same.

Wouldn’t have been any mocking. She would have given two poops
