85lbs of boned out meat resulted from this harvest. Best meat I’ve ever tasted.

Have never had it before. How does it differ from WT Venison?

Visually, it’s a darker red meat. Flavor, is much richer in my opinion.

Re axis deer: given that they're non-native, what's the history of your population? Any problems relating to size of the breeding pool?

They are everywhere free range. They breed year round.

They are considered "exotics", correct?

Missed this one, that I REALLY want out of the gene pool, TWICE tonight

He came out where I placed the "X" ~110 yards away. Aimed for the neck. The suppressed shot didn't really spook him, he raised his head and looked around while I chambered another round and I put crosshairs middle of his neck, shot and he decided to walk off the field. I did my due diligence and went to where he was standing and saw no blood. I know it's where he was standing, because it was freshly rooted up by the freakin' hogs and I saw where one hoof slipped.

Wife missed a doe as well, not a good night for either of us
Edited to add: Don't have a game camera that covers where he came out half way down the hill

Spot and Stalk!
Started off looking for pigs. But, found these Corn Thieves & Yotes instead. Didn’t have our caller, so put the sneak on them. Raccoons were about 70 yards and the Yotes 200-250.

They are VERY prolific. The herds were decimated by the “snowpocalypse” two years ago. But just this week we are seeing HUGE herds of axis on the lease.

Went for a pig for a friend to make into tamales. The farmer went with me so me did a synchronized shot. He took the smaller one with a .223 AR and 62gr Speer Gold Dot. I took the bigger one quartering away with a .243 Win and 105gr A-Max.
He shot his a second time, which was not needed as the first was a perfect broadside shot through the shoulder. But, a running pig, gathers lead and he made a great quartering shot on the run. I saved ammo and held off on mine which fell in about 100 yards. Shot was 85 yrds-ish.
There were 57 pigs in the field!!!
