I dont recall seeing anything getting out of hand here. The old forum was a different story but that was years worth of topics over time. Am I missing something?
The die hard _________(insert politicritter of choice) fans can’t be objective. They get pissy when you run down their person. “ but they are better than the other side!” Get mad if you aren’t respectful. How some people believe politicians are their savior and hold them on a pedestal is beyond me. You want respect? You earn it. With me everyone is given the same amount of respect. Till actions cause that level to increase or decrease. Just because someone is a ______( policeman, politician, armed forces member etc) means D I C K to me. You want respect, be respectful.
If you’re a public servant, chosen by the people of this country. (and or Russia or China etc) You are paid for by my taxes. I’ll call you a dirty cocksucker if I so choose.
I guess I just don't remember a pissing match ever starting here on this political forum but that's not saying that it hasn't.
As to your comment, you make a solid point and it's one that took me years realize as well. On another forum I got scolded pretty bad by a bunch of members on a topic of "Respecting your elders." I asked why should an old person automatically get my respect because even stupid àssholes become old folks. The ONLY reason they could come up with was, "bEcAuSe ThAtS wHaT mY pApA tOLd Me."
There's alot of mentality that needs to die. I've always said that blind support based off of a title is the stupidest thing a person can do.
There once was a man named Poly Van Echt. He worked as a carpenter in the Middle Ages.
He spent years honing his craft, working under many master builders until he one day rose to prominence and became the official carpenter to the kingdom.
The king came to him during a particularly rainy season, and said, "Master Van Echt, the rain has caused all the bridges in our kingdom to rot. Citizens are unable to to go to market, farmers cannot bring there crops forth to sell, under risk of a collapse. Can't you do something?"
Poly went to work immediately rebuilding the bridges, it took many weeks, but finally all the wood work in the kingdom was rebuilt, stronger than ever. He came to the palace and said, "My liege, the work is complete."
The king replied, "yes yes, the bridges are rebuilt, but what if the rains were to come again? Will they not give way to rot once more master Van Echt?"
The carpenter shook his head, "No your highness, for I have developed a special compound that promises to keep our bridges free of rot, see how the they glimmer in the sun with renewed strength against the rain."
The king nodded his approval and called his closest advisors to conference, after a few moments he spoke, "Master Van Echt, for your service to the kingdom, we grant you land and title."
The carpenter's eyes went wide, "you mean?"
The king nodded, "That's right Poly, you're a Thane...
