Fluid strainers. Aka oil filters
I know how they are supposed to work. Designing one might be a messy task? Building one i dont know how. i dont want one made from plastic. So ill probably stick to the commercial products. Local range has been selling them out the day they get more stock.

The Amazon reviews for these are great...
I seem to be having trouble finding them though.

So the TLDR , unless you live in a gay state, you can buy them like they are a .22 rifle, and you can make em at night. Get your hacksaws ready boys.

I live in a gay state. Of course a forged tax stamp on a lathe made can wouldn't be identifiable by the average Barney Fife.

So, can I put my 8.5" upper on a "regular" rifle lower now?
It sure looks like it
4th paragraph of the link I posted
Under ATF’s guidance, ATF will not enforce the requirements for individuals to apply and receive ATF approval before making or transferring short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, suppressors (silencers), and certain other concealable firearms known in the law as “any other weapons.” ATF also will not enforce the NFA’s registration, tax-stamp or related requirements for those covered items. The $200 tax remains in place for machine guns and destructive devices. The NFA requirements apply in full to those weapons.

If your state allows it, yes.

So, what happens when....
1. A Democrat POTUS is elected and ATF leadership has a change of philosophy?
2. Political leadership stays the same but someone uses a suppressor and/or SBR for something that generates a lot of press (bumpstocks, anyone?)
3. A new court case comes through? Maybe one in a non-free state by their A.G.?
The law hasn't changed, ATF just isn't enforcing it. Seems to me like the actual solution is legislative or in the Supreme Court.

Oh 100%. I see this as short lived. WHEN the tax gets reinstated as the other side of the *same **** coin* returns to power, then the judges ruling becomes null and void. Then all items need to be registered. Folks who have bought them on a 4473 will be on the not a registry, registry. Amnesty period will allow those items to be registered. If you don’t, you’re a felon.
There’s gonna have to be a law or court ruling to make this more than a “we won’t enforce this. Trust us bro.”
The only saving grace to all this will be that the market is going to be FLOODED with cans and shorty bois. Going to be hard to deny something that’s already defined as “in common use “ to not be, when the numbers increase 10 fold.
And I say law or court ruling, I meant court ruling. The big red carrot danglers will NOT pass a law. No way, no how.

I’m kinda Scot what may happen with control of Congress in next month’s midterms. If it goes the way I suspect it will then this “new guidance “ will be short-lived. And neither “Republican” controlled House will do ANYTHING to make this law.
My state requires a Form 4. The state legislature won’t meet until January. Special sessions aren’t cheap.
I just emailed my state senator and representative pointing out the upcoming midterms and that a special session is necessary. I also wrote that not accepting pay or mileage reimbursement for attending this special session could be used as a campaign tactic showing the candidates’s support for the 2nd Amendment.
I don’t expect anything to come of it.

This really sucks being in Ohio because I have a few single barrel break down shotguns that would be fun to cut down. I have zero use for an SBR and never really saw the use in wasting time and money on a stamp for one. I used to hear the reason as how they're more maneuverable down a hallway for self defense use

. Sure.... Or just admit that you want it because its weird and you've been told forever you can't have one. Thats a logical explanation that I'm more likely to believe and the only reason I want a SBS. Also, that isnt in response to anyone, just my incoherent ramblings. And this likely will get overturned and we can only hope that the items made and transfered get grandfathered in.
