Talk me out of a Steyr rifle

I guess they decided to stick with SAAMI twist rate. If Im not mistaken most .308 rifles come with a 1:10 twist. I assume this is due to .30-06 SAAMI twist rate being 1:10. Makes more sense to just have your .30 caliber barrels made to the same twist rate.

10T is better in a .308 Win than a stupid 12T………in my opinion.
My last .308 build, I used an 8T barrel and I won’t ever look back. Love my 8T!

I won't argue the 10T at all. It's far better than a 12T in .30 caliber. It's much like 10T in a .243. the 100gr InterLock is okay, but the 103gr ELD is not an option. Hornady says you need at least an 8T for the 90gr CX as well. To an extent faster twist is better for overall usability.

Completely agree!!! Fast twist can shoot heavy and light. Slow twist can’t shoot heavy! I wish manufacturers would pull their collective heads out of their butts and start twisting fast for caliber. At least in everything over .224cal. Even then, I like a 7T or 8T at most in my .224s.
My main .243 has an 8T barrel and loves the 105 A-Max.

If memory is correct the 6.5-06 barrel on its way is a 7.5T and if I do a 6mm-06 down the road it will probably be a 7T.
