I’m half tempted to try the Speer 130 grain varmint bullets. I think they may slow enough to not be splody.

110 Amax work well too.
I've got some of the 135gr Sierra varmiters to try, just haven't gotten around to loading any. Though I've heard they sometimes cause feeding issues. If they do, I can download them and try them in my 30-30 Contender

Set up my cam to get pics of critter visiting the gut pile of the deer I shot. I gutted it next to my camper so I could use the lights. The deer and coyote are within spitting distance of my camper

Looks like Ernie’s been working out

, no pig cart needed.
Did everyone bring their own handguns?

No. Only one hunter did. Three borrowed handguns from Ernie and I.

More handgun hunts. Axis does.

Well done Gentlemen
I never noticed how the spots on axis follow a line and not just random spots.

Friend’s first Specialty Pistol buck!! A cull with my TC Contender and MGM 7T .223 Remington barrel launching 80gr A-Max bullets. About 100 yard shot. Well done.

Good for you getting him started hunting with a handgun!

Ha! We are being aggressive in the management this year. Have to get the numbers down and be real selective on what bucks we want in the general pool. With all the feed we’ve provided, this buck didn’t kick out brows. You are the weakest link…….goodbye.

He’s pretty excited to get into it. Don’t think he will go deep. But, I think he likes the option.

I'm happy with someone, regardless of the depth they choose.

Another Management Buck
7.5 yr old 10pt (before breakages).
TC Contender
.223 Rem MGM 7T Barrel
Vortex 2-7 Scout Scope
80gr A-Max
100ish yrd shot
30-40yrd run
Just behind the aortic arch, dang it! But, saved the heart.
He was injured and heading down hill. The herd needed to be managed and he’d been a good buck for years. It was time for him to feed instead of breed.

Managing the herd. 3.5yr old 9pt buck who lost an eye last week in a fight. He didn’t meet the standards for a buck and we need to keep the numbers down, but considered giving him another year to see. Then, he lost the eye and I decided to just let him go. If for his sake alone.
MOA Maximum in .308 Win
168gr ELD-Match
100ish yrd shot.
Aortic Arch.
Ran 30ish yrds.
Donating meat to a friend.
