Yeah. . .it's more equipment and time. . .and you can really go down the rabbit hole of sciencing the poop out of stuff if that's your inclination
BUT
While I thought I had a pretty good grasp on internal variability in gun internals and crafting decent ammo from my Highpower days of the 1990's, it ain't nothin' compared with what I've learned since we started pouring bullets.
It's opened up the ability to shoot some really cool guns we wouldn't otherwise be able to: French Chassepot, Confederate Whitworth, Maynard Carbine, .50-70's, 1871 and 71/84 Mausers, .455 Webley revolvers and Martini single shots.
More shooting for same money, if the shoe store ever quits providing.
Then there's watching through binos as your Dad absolutely flattens a deer with a pair of bullets HE MADE HIMSELF. Some of it you just can't put a price on.
And even if you stop at only casting for the Sharps (BWAHAHAHAHAAAA!), there's the visceral, "excuse me while I whip this out" appeal of having 500+ grains land with a "THUD!" as it falls out of the mold.

NICE!
I'd bet a 20 or two that those blue lubed puppies came out of molds Veral Smith (LBT) cut for the company in question. They've got his characteristic LFN front end that a lot of folks are cloning now - probably not when those boxes were printed. Potentially, very good stuff!
Veral set me up with a MOST excellent .45 ACP mold and walked me through the process of doing a swage chamber cast to get the specs for my first Martini Cadet mold when he was at an age where a lot of guys no longer have the patience for babe-in-the-woods noobies, and from whom we learned the trick of firelapping to uniform up a revolver. A granite pillar of the casting community who was one of the last remnants of the Keith / Pope / Ackley period - we miss him.
