Get you some of those dog proof raccoon traps.
That’s what I use around our feeders.

Dry cat food. Attracts less ants. I’ve tried marshmallows and wet cat food. Turns into a sticky ant Soirée.

So that’s interesting. I can drop a single piece of dry cat food in my yard and I’ll have 1000000000069 ants on it within minutes.

Our bigest problem was bears. I hung my 5 gal model from a tree limb to avoid problems. My partner had his toppled few times.

I’m not saying ants don’t arrive on dry food. But, if I set the trap in the evening, I usually catch a coon that night.

If it goes a day or two, I dump the dry ant food and wait a few days

I’m not saying ants don’t arrive on dry food. But, if I set the trap in the evening, I usually catch a coon that night.

It may be different in the woods. I’m gonna try the cat food, it’s handy.
Maybe my ants are more cat food type of ants.
