They can’t all be big ones. Finishing out my bonus antlerless tag in the “alternative methods” season. Muzzle loaders or handguns only. I don’t make the stupid ass rules on what constitutes a handgun, so AR pistols meet the requirement. Which is the reason I built my .300.
100-ish yards, 130 grain Speer varmint bullet with a MV around 2000FOS . Did very well on the damage. Good enough the fancy Barnes I was using ain’t worth the extra. Now I don’t have the skin off to see exactly what was hit. But it did penetrate both sides.
Congrats

that should be nice and tender eating. Quick question. What is that, that looks like a zip tie around your gun?

So the requirements of this hunt were:
1. It’s brown
2. It’s antlerless.
3. It’s cooperative.
First two, check. The last one however was tough. There were quite a few tree limbs in my way and I had precious few shooting lanes. There were two together, and neither wanted to stop at the other lanes. As you will hear, I got frustrated.

But it worked. Worked….better than the camera rig.

Oh I was spot on with the camera work! Had the gun and camera lined up to same POA, followed the deer as it ran off in my scope. Was really on it.
But the camera wasn’t.
Had it zoomed in, which just made it worse.

Well didn't get to play with him
He was up by houses and in that spot if busted he goes where you can't shoot him so I left him alone.
What's your take on his future potential zee ?
His core area is right by my stand.

Ain't seen anything, but still have over a month of season left, by any legal means. Got my bolt Grendel today

Between bow and gun seasons, I can take 122 deer a season. 1 doe a day 10/15-2/10 (119 days) plus I can add 3 bucks, 1 per day, with 1 being required to have 4 points or more on 1 side
Bow season always starts 10/15, firearm season starts the Saturday before Thanksgiving and MLs starts the Monday before gun season starts. Once a method/means opens, it runs until the season closes 2/10

I’ve got till January 15 th to get another doe. Which means tomorrow and the following weekend. Tomorrow, that is if I don’t have to leave the camper and go to an old folks home to do an alarm repair tonight. Being on call blows.
I’d have already tagged out about 4:45 this evening if I hadn’t of shot underneath the likely twin of the one I shot last week.
