During a quick visit in Montana my brother surprised me by wanting to trade “the world’s ugliest 22” for my 300 blackout AR I built. Well the 22 is a CZ 457 varmint MTR with an area 419 30 moa base! Hell yeah I’ll swap! Well range report coming this Friday…….
I’m really hoping it shoots well. I have a couple scope options for it we shall see.

Regardless, great pick up.

Your brothers eyes may be cloudy cause I think that's a beautiful rifle. I've been working down my bucket list and a nice bolt .22lr is on it and I would be proud to own that rifle..

It is not… the grip would be a bit awkward

That’s far from the truth…. He knew he’d never shootin it to its potential and use it, I will. He wanted a “go check the cows trouble gun” a 300 BO is just that.

I will be SHOCKED if it's not a shooter.
It took buying an Anschutz to get a more accurate 22 bolt gun than my CZ 452 Ultra Lux (The 28.75" one)
I got out of my "Serious" rimfire stage just as CZ was moving away from the 452, so I have no experience with the 457s though

If your brother thinks THAT is ugly, I have a Squires Bingham .22 he needs to buy:

They are shooters. My 452 American is deadly accurate!

I did a bunch of digging around on that and it's a 457 MTR and it's a pretty desirable model that's hard to find in stock anywhere. They do make it in a left hand model also. That's officially on my short list.

I have to many “nice” .22s but I’ve had a hankering for a heavy barreled one for a while. I might sell my safe queen 452 American and get one of those. I think I’d get more use out of that.

Yes they do but how many premium .22 sporters does a guy need? My Steyr is a one hole shooter with Remington Thunderbolts.
I could use a modern heavy barreled .22. Sold my Anschutz target gun years ago and have missed it since. Looking at them today the prices are ridiculous for guns that I have no idea if the bores have been taken care of correctly. A new CZ would scratch that itch.

You definitely shouldn't buy the slicked out CZ 457 in a Manners stock... definitely don't do that. Anything but that.
