My gun safe has always been finicky about unlocking. I have been trying for 2 days to get it open but it is not cooperating. I know the combination and I read that sometimes the lock will get worn and to try a number higher or lower and have tried all of those combinations. I don't know what else to try. Anybody have any ideas.

Check and see if there is a key bypass.

My stepson called a locksmith on his Heritage safe. The locksmith had the phone numbers to all of the major manufacturers repair guys.

I went to the manufacturers website and it said to hold the dial on zero after the last number and jiggle the handle. The second time I tried this it worked. I am going to call them because it has always been hard to open. I wanted in it today because we had been out of town and I had put everything in the safe and I wanted my edc and bedside out. I hate to say this but cpj's advice helped me get it open.

Who is the Manufacturer? My son was a locksmith and the company sold Amsac, American Safe Company, and they advertised "Made in the USA. When I started having trouble with the dial we took it apart and found, "Made in China" on the dial. I now own a Liberty.

It's a S and G lock. I thought they were supposed to be good. It was not a high dollar safe, a fatboy jr.
