In actuality, probably prevents theft better than a loose lock box. Thief gonna steal a lock box. Not known for stealing a dictionary.

I actually find this really interesting, got a link? I think it would be useful not only for tucking away a pistol or other valuables with at least SOME form of security, but also as a lock box for carrying a handgun in your checked baggage on a flight. It's at least slightly less obvious.

Just double check the size. Some on amazon were just big enough for a phone and thats about it. I found this one at Harbor Freight for about the same price.
