Got a new Winchester 26 safe yesterday, and lugged it in with the help of a young friend from work and his brother. The good news is, now most of my stuff is secured in one vault that’s fire-rated too.
The bad news is I still have room for more stuff…

I saw they are on sale right now at Tractor Supply. I had one before and really liked it. Sold it to my brother when we went to Florida. I was going to get another for our current house but went with the 12 gun to hide it in a specific spot.

Just sold my biggest safe because I don't want to lug it cross country. My buddy asked for help loading on his trailer. Good use of smarts and physics allowed us to get a 1,000lb safe out of my garage an onto his trailer. I have to say I was not hopeful we could do it with just the two of us but he has experience moving heavy things and we managed to get it done. Not fun though...

Yep, that’s where I got it. My buddy and I went there first, then to Cabela’s to see what they had, and they were disappointing. None of theirs were fire-rated, and all were much pricier. So we both ordered the 26 from TS.

This one is just 350lbs or so, but with the help of a couple of strong youngsters and a hand truck it was no trouble. Of course, the crab legs afterwards may have been a motivating factor…

Good on you. I have had to pay companies to move my 700# Liberty safe several times from houses and storage units. Hit to the wallet for sure, but way better than ended up under it like a Looney Tune.

I wouldn't let the movers the Army uses to move an anvil.... they'd break it or lose it.

I’ve had to move it a few times already. I’ll just get a new one when I buy/build the next house. Anctially I’ll probably just build a vault room and get it over with. That way I’m not ever tempered to move a safe again. It sucks…

I was in the barracks and didn't have 500# all together. I'd say 20% disappeared.

I'm pretty sure I can credit Ron here with my moves going smoothly. Every one of them started with a phone call to him.

Now that I sold 40 firearms, my safe has plenty of room. Go Big is the way to go. I thought I'd gone big, but I soon filled out the safe beyond capacity. It had but an inch clearance when I moved it in. Make sure you set up the safe right...my Mauser cigarette gun won't fit; it's too long. Also two muzzle loaders.
