Pistol Caliber AR pistols.

If you’ve thought about giving one a go Primary arms is having a rather aggressive sale on FM uppers. 3 of them are under $200 and they even have one in .45acp on sale too.

If you have not taken the plunge I highly encourage it. They are a hoot and EASY to carry around. With the Dead Foot Arms folding stock/brace adapter on can stuff mine and a buttload of Glock mags into a Maxpedition Sling pack. And their adapter allows you to shoot the gun even with the brace in the folded position.

Does the .45acp gain much, if anything, from a longer barrel?

I'm quite content with my Ruger PC Carbine, otherwise I would take a serious look at their offerings.

My Glock 45 is chambered in 9mm.

These are all pistol uppers. From 4”-7.5”

I owned a pistol caliber carbine and it was a hoot but since owning a pistol caliber AR pistol with a brace the idea of a carbine has kind’a exited my mind for good.

I have not done any testing but the general rule of thumb is yes, to a certain point. Maybe someone with the load software can run the numbers.

I'm kind of the opposite. For me a 9mm/45/10mm with a brace is mostly a toy. I have no interest in EDCing one, so my interests go more for a longer barrel to squeeze more performance out of the cartridge.

I think the extra hundred feet per second is somewhat secondary to the "M1 Carbine Phenomenon": People who are miserable shots with handguns suddenly have a chance of hitting something.
It's a concept I probably need to do some experimenting with in this brave new world where red dots are taking the problem of sight radius off the table. Competent operator with red dotted pistol vs. competent operator with red dotted PCC: how much time and how many rounds on average does it take to splat a milk jug at 75 yards with either?

Given the choice of the Ruger carbine or an AR pistol with brace, I’m taking the AR.
The Ruger is cool, but the AR controls are more familiar.
And the take down aspect of the Ruger is just silly. But that’s a rant for another day.

Nice! I'd love to have one in 45 ACP but they are just too pricey these days.

I had a guy bring a HI Point carbine in 45acp in. It's amazing those work as well as they do because it's a complete nightmare to field strip and the whole bolt body is some kind of pot metal. That's my random thought of the day.

Serious question...
What is the perceived advantage to a pistol caliber AR pistol over, say my 8.5" 300BO AR pistol?
The only thing I can come up with are the compatible magazines between one that uses glock pattern 9mm mags and my carry gun. However, since even an 8.5" AR with a folding stock is still WAYYYYYY too big to carry, I don't really see that as any sort of advantage.
What am I not seeing?

9MM is cheaper to feed than .300 BO, Magpul makes a 50 rnd mag, something else to sling 9mm ammo with
