BH and I both use Boretech on our rifles to remove copper. Bh pulled a couple of safe queens out on the weekend to give them an outing to the range and found that the bores were coated with a slight film of rust.
Bh thinks its because Down under we have a very humid atmosphere and that boretech is water based.
Be that as it may, what is a good alternative to Boretech....?
I havent noticed the same problem cos I always leave my rifles with a coating of oil in the barrel and run a dehumidifier in my gun room.
Quick question re copper solvent.

I’ve never had issue with BorTech.

Re: Quick question re copper solvent.
I'm guessing the rust is because the boretech left the bore COMPLETELY clean, exposing bare metal to humidity.
If you're happy with the job boretech does cleaning, just continue running a patch with a rust preventative down the bore before you put it away, and have BH start doing the same

Regardless of what I clean with I always run a patch with Hoppes down the bore before I put the rifle away. Zero issues in Florida and North Caroline, even living by the ocean.

I think you could be right Paul...So, in the interests of science we are going to put 3 pieces of bare steel in his cabinet....1 with boretech wiped over it...one cleaned with boretech and a wipe of oil over it and one just bare metal. Leave them in the cabinet for a couple of months and see what happens....GrapeApe wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:17 am I'm guessing the rust is because the boretech left the bore COMPLETELY clean, exposing bare metal to humidity.
