Something doesn't sound quite right though...

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Secret Service agents saw a rifle barrel poking out from bushes about 400 to 500 yards (365 to 460 meters) away from Trump as they cleared holes of potential threats ahead of his play.

They spotted rifle barrel sticking out of the bushes from 400-500 yards away?? o--kay

I think what they meant is they were “playing ahead “ so to speak. They were in front of Trump clearing the course.

Looks like the TDS is getting to people. May have hit the tipping point as well. Looks like Trump is gonna have a hard time with the crazies. I can't stand him, but some people are just getting stupid about it.

My understanding is that there was an agent one hole ahead, doing security. He saw the gun barrel, and the only shots fired were from the ag3nt.

And people (including the FL governor) are asking how this guy got so close to the former POTUS.

Well, one needs only get a map or overhead imagery.

Where did the bullets go? That aerial view makes me wonder.

Just went to a local Trump rally and just before he took the stage a SS guy came up, stood behind the podium and it was very clear that he was scanning the whole room to make sure nothing was "wrong" and folks were in place. Then he texted what I'm assuming was an all clear and left the podium. Assuming it's standard OP.

The National Review reported that the rifle, first reported as an AK 47, was an SKS.

FBI reported that in the news conference yesterday and it was "with a scope"

The initial (grainy) photo showed a scoped rifle with an AK-styled mag and a standard rifle stock, not an AK style handgrip. Being charitable, it could have been one of those Saiga import abortions where they had an AK action with a "rifle-style" buttstock. And the photo was so bad, most people only saw the mag, I would wager.

Folks are wondering how a convicted felon got a gun, but considering he's also charged with carrying a gun with an obscured serial number, I doubt he got the rifle from an FFL.

For what it's worth, it makes the case against gun control...
