The number one reason to not open carry

Other than looking like a douche bag with your Taurus 9 mm and then uncle Mike’s Velcro holster… You might get your ass whipped and your gun taken.
Don’t give me “I’m more situationally aware than that guy was”, because I’ve got $100 bill that says that you ain’t aware 100% of the time. Even the most high-speed low drag guy that I know isn’t going to be aware 100% of the time. The only difference is I would pull back a bloody stump if I attempted to grab a weapon from him. Or he may bite my shins.
Regardless, concealed>open

What if it's in a Fobus holster?

Then it shows your tastes are slightly more refined.

I agree. It’s not necessary. Any way you shape it, ego or laziness drive the day.

Good info
I see plenty of sloppy almost concealed carry here.
The latest trend is 2 almost concealed guns.
They will be less visible as temps get below 100s and people wear something other than T-shirt’s and shorts

Only time I ever open carried was when we were cleaning out my stepsons rental in Panama City after Hurricane Michael. And I was aware of anyone walking down the street for those 2 hours because they were aware of the lack of police presence at that time. It was my XD40 5.5'' in a Don Hume JIT Slide so it could be seen from the road.
All travelers down that road that day got the memo.....

I like that video! The perfect illustration as to why you shouldn't carry open, accidentally show, or even print your cc. They have the element of surprise, you need to reverse that. Some argue that a mouse pistol isn't enough, NAA Guardian 32 acp, but when I reach in my pocket they think they're getting my money and keys. I'm not a big fan of appendix carry because that's where the hood rats carry. When you reach for your waist band they know why. Chances are if they have a piece, their hands are already on it and you don't stand a chance. If they're not holding it, you're in a quick draw situation. If I carry my PA 63, I prefer it in the small of my back, it looks like I'm reaching for my wallet.

The reason I open carry is because I'm out hunting...

Is there even a magazine in that gun? I think they will miss the gun while they are checking out the sock tan.
This place is like "The Burbs"
It is always a good show.

Open or concealed, did you see the report about the female cop who was trying to remove a pistol from a legally authorized concealed carrier's holster, and shot him with his own gun...?

Yep.
Remember, cops are the only ones qualified to handle firearms.

It was for their safety and his.
All kidding aside f that nonsense. He was co-operative and non aggressive. There was no reason to have him get out and take his gun until they ran his license and came up with something. He ran a stop light. He did not deserve being treated like a criminal until there was reason to. It was far safer for everyone to leave him in the vehicle and run his info and let him go, write a ticket, or escalate as needed.

Thankfully she was fired, instead of “we investigated ourselves and found we didn’t do a thing wrong”.
He’s gonna get a fat paycheck. Which I support.
“But but but it’s the taxpayers money!”
Doubt it. It’s the insurance company’s money. Yes, now the rates may go up, which yes, the tax payers will pay for. Who cares? You think you’re gonna pay lower taxes ever? Or if Guvco saves money they will issue you a refund?
It’s a perfect opportunity for the tax payers who pay the salary of police officers to demand accountability from their employees.

Imagine if he had been carrying appendix. Your choice?
Your Howard Johnson
Your chestnuts
Or your femoral artery
It is good she is going to be fired
So should the ass that ordered the search and seisure
He should get a payday for sure, and the act of taking a firearm at a stop without cause should be a 4th amendment violation.
There simply was no cause to do what they did.

Me either. I WILL OC every once in a blue moon if I'm hunting something, but for the most part, I don't want to draw attention to myself

I OC well under 1% (probably closer to 0.01%) of the time I'm carrying. Of late, mainly only when I'm fueling a vehicle at night, on a road trip. If I'm heading home, I normally remove my CC, for comfort, and if I have to stop for fuel before I get there, I'll just grab it from the console and stick it in my belt until I finish fueling.
I'll sometimes OC when hunting, or "in the field" for other reasons. However, in those instances, the number of times I get out of my truck anywhere but where I'm going, or back at home, is normally extremely limited

As to the guy shot with his own gun by the cops...
I always here and see the OfFiCeR sAfEtY excuse but that's not in the constitution. Our 2a rights are though.
