I'm curious about some Ting.....

Anyone have experience with a Ting sensor?
I've found some sketchy wiring in this house and I'm sure there is probably more.

I have my doubts about it. Even if it can detect faults on circuits other than what its connected to, it doesnt actually tell you where the fault is. If we assume the fault is a hot to a neutral or ground, and the neutral and ground are complete and properly grounded, then it can only tell you that you have an issue somewhere in the house. If the fault is a damaged hot that is getting hot then it might have a chance of detecting an issue if its plugged into a circuit on the correct phase of the panel, but that issue may only be noticeable when that particular circuit has a high enough load on it for that damaged wire to cause whatever signal the Ting is picking up. The BS meter is close to red line on this one.
Was it designed by 'Capitan Sum Ting Wong'? Why can I still remember that broadcast from the plane crash?????

I should probably buy one after discovering all of the hack work the previous homeowner did that he was so proud of himself for. It's been a nonstop battle to redo everything properly. He didn't know what a level or square is. He also used liquid nail adhesive in place of caulking in the bathtub, amongst a ton of other crap.

I was wondering about the phase issue, I can see it seeing something between A and neutered or ground, when it’s plugged into A…but what about B ?

I could see if being able to pick up the other phase if the fault is to neutral or ground, but thats about the only way I can currently imagine it being able to detect anything. In a single phase residential system A phase and B phase are not connected on the property. I am not sure how the utility does it, so its possible that at some point in the distribution system they share a connection point at a transformer. At that, whats to say that it isnt picking up an issue in another property that is sharing the same 120/240 transformer? If memory is correct, in my neighborhood 4 houses share the same 4800 primary transformer.

It's supposed to be an alarm for the whole panel. Once it goes off you have to test each circuit to find the fault.
