My wife had a belly ache last Wednesday and Thursday. Felt bloated. Friday her abdomen felt hard so I took her to a stat care @7pm. They advised her to go to the ER. The stat care is the same name as the hospital and called ahead to let them know we were coming. She didn't have to wait at all..... on a Friday night!

After a CT scan they found she had a twisted bowel. She was in surgery Saturday morning (within 6 hours). They removed 18'' of large intestine. She came home last night and I took the rest of the week off to be the Piss Boy.

All things considered she is doing extremely well.....

Any of youse say I called her old and....

Dear Lord! That is serious stuff that has taken a lot of folks out old and young! Glad she went in and they got it in time!

Holy smokes. Do they know how or why that happens? And I'm glad to hear she's on the mend now.

Glad to hear she's doing well, this is no joking matter, please keep us posted.

The surgeon said it is most common in runners and patients in psych wards. I said she doesn't run so.....

I guess it is mostly genetics. The shape of your intestine can make it easier to roll over. A normal large intestine is kind of flat like a cobra hood or kinda square. Hers is round and small in diameter.

Infection is the main problem. When you plan on having abdominal surgery you clean it out like a colonoscopy prep. When it's twisted you can't clean it out.
