Go watch this. He does a great job of explaining why this will never happen.

I'll be happy and I'll sleep better at night if they just get reeled in a bit. I feel like they'd love to make an example of an FFL.

I agree with JSD. It's not going away, but members need to understand that they do not make laws. While part of their job is to ensure laws are followed, it is not to harass FFL holders.

BATFE is under the DOJ, and DOJ is under the executive branch. POTUS can set the direction based on director, attorney general, and how he steers things. The FFL hassling started under Clinton. Bump stocks were also reclassified based on presidential directive. And let's not forget the Fast and the Furious.

Good judicial appointments will be one leg of the structure for this. "Yall are infringin' where ya ain't supposed ta be infringin'"

Looking at the necessity of the taxes enforced/collected would be another.

And then there's the law enforcement angle, as in "Don't we have an FBI who handles that? The nice representative from D.O.G.E. is putting you on his 'redundant and unnecessary' list".

At the very least, they can be castrated down to a mere shadow.

Brandon Herrera had a good point in one of his videos. A freedom oriented could pull a LOT of shenanigans that would make life SO much more fun for us 'projectile enthusiasts':

(go to 4:10 for the discussion on what an ATF director could do)

The last time we talked about abolishing the ATF we got Waco as a show of “need” by the higher-ups. I don’t think they will get away with this again.

Here’s an even better reason why abolishing the AFT is not a great idea

I think it's pretty well understood that abolishing the ATF would also entail largely or entirely wiping out the statutes that they are in charge of enforcing. If the regulations aren't there, what then is the necessity of the regulatory agency - or at least a regulatory agency of the size needed to enforce things that have been rolled back?

Do I think we'll ever get back to the point of being able to mail order a Thompson through the Sears catalog? Probably not, but negotiations should be opened from the position of "we regard the very existence of these statutes and their regulatory arm as B.S.". If we open with less, we'll surely get less.

There's a D.O.G.E. component and a Constitutionality component. If you view it through the lens of prosecuting committed ACTUAL crime with a focused L.E. agency rather than potential crime with a bloated bureaucratic one, the path is clear. There will of course be the "OMG! THE STORM DRAINS WILL BE OVERLOWING WITH BLOOD!" hysteria from the lefty media and Sarah-Brady types. This election was a statement of "screw 'em" - let's see what we can pull off.

Rather than being retarded and grandstanding, elected servants should work on plausible solutions, like dialing back the power “bestowed” on the AFT.

Abolishing will not happen and they know it.

But, it DO get the right wing wack jobs riled up, and eager to vote for the big R….
