Can you recognize this mark, old knife question.

I love old stuff especially knives and recently bumped into this old guy at a local antique store and the guy gave me a deal I couldn’t say no too.
It’s an old butcher or “breaking” knife with a 15” blade. Elk creek identified that much for me. After cleaning God only knows how many decades of crud etc off the blade there is no discernible stamp on the blade. The only thing I have is this mark on both scales on the handle.
The white handled knife next to it is a modern Russell 12” commercial butcher knife part of the set I use for game. The blade on the old guy is in great shape and takes a shaving edge. Once I remove a few knicks it’ll be a basically perfect edge.
Any thought?
