Something to make the purist cry and cool gunsmithing

Post by CPJ 2.0 »

Red dot/express sights. Made by Mr Spuhr. (yes that Spuhr) He’s an AMAZING manual machinist/gunsmith, aside from the tactical stuff they make.
I’ll find some other stuff and post it also

It’s actually become somewhat common. I’ve see doubles with micro red dots and fancy bolt guns as well. Even rich old farts lose their eyesight. Boddington has hunted with them often enough that I’ve seen pics in magazine articles.

Am I right in thinking nothing on the gun was changed?
If not go for it. If it's your gun and you need/want assistance in aiming , go for it. Ruining a classic just because you can is different

Makes sense to me. Aimpoint even markets a micro red dot meant to mount to shotgun vent ribs.

Nope. It’s just a custom mount he made.
But it seems big game rifles are off limits to anything modern. Because “tradition.”

Kinda like blue steel and walnut used to be for deer hunting. Thankfully that’s changing.

Not so much anymore. Seen a lot of Aimpoints on pretty “African” rifles.

Maybe the Zumbos and other Boomerfudds have come around. Or died off. 🤷‍♂️

Need a Luger slide but don’t have one? Well that’s easy. You just mill one from scratch.

And to think of the numbers of these that were produced way back when. There were many a skilled craftsman back then.

I wish the video showed more of the process, but it’s still an interesting way to spend a couple minutes.

If you ever get the opportunity to pop the top cover on a Maxim '08 or Vickers M.G., or better still, get a guided tour of their tear-down, you will have multiple milledgasms.

Between those and the inner guts of an 1863-dated Sharps I got to clean up, I found myself wondering what they'd have turned out if they WEREN'T hectically busy trying to kill each other in a war of attrition. . .

The Bo Mar sight on the Luger build is interesting, but I'm pretty sure the original Artillery Model tangent sights had more elevation. :D
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

Yeah, but this got an extra half inch of sight radius
