A Thunderer Al
I think what they call a sheriff's model.
It 41 long colt.
The Derringer is 41 rimfire.

That is very cool also, compared to your previous néw gun thread, is that rimfire ammo still good to go?

Nice!!!! I’ve seen a lot of Lightnings but I’ve never handled a Thunderer! Cool pieces of firearms history right there ❤️❤️

I can't find the vid, but there's a pretty good one out there going into how it's possible that Gen. Custer finished himself off with one of three prototype Thunderer's that were sent by Colt to the 7th Cav for evaluation. Short version is the unit doctor who survived with Reno or Benteen's companies had one of the other revolvers, and he fished a conical bullet that matched his muzzle out of the exit side of Custer's head when they went in to survey the carnage a few days later. The speculation of the vid is that Colt used leftover conical bullets from the .41 rimfires in the early efforts of the .41 Long. The doc generally kept mum about it, telling the story to a couple friends on the condition THEY kept mum about it until after Mrs. Custer had died. The folks who did the vid pulled that info from a magazine article from the 1950's.

So it's possible you've got your own "replica" of Oswald's Carcano. ;)

It's a gun I don't know much about for sure.
I may letter it just for the who knows factor.
Right now I found out it's an early non ejector one.
Only 15% were 2.5" barrels.
The actions are delicate.....this one is still right on.

All in all I'll probably just be a caretaker for it for a few years.
It belongs out west.

Not to make too fine of a point about it, but it's "heeled"

I was wondering about the spelling and appreciate the correction.

Well heeled, indeed. That Colt is a niceun. Not a derringer fan, but with that Colt, you probably don't need one.
