Well Sako and I had a gun store crawl today. We started in Boulder, yep Boulder of all places, they had some cool stuff. Nothing stood out as a gotta have. At the end of the afternoon we stopped in Longmont at a gun and pawn where I spotted an ER Shaw 18” 22lr blued .920 bull barrel in factory shipping packaging. I asked to open it it’s NIB! All for $49!!! Looks like I’m building a 10/22….🤣

Well yeah. Because that’s the only reason you need!
I’d probably go with a NON Ruger action. Brownells has a few different ones.
But, I’m kinda bitter. My new Charger has the mounting hole off from where it should be by a bit. Not enough to fit the sloppy ass factory stock, but not even close in my Grey Birch chassis.

Maybe after Ruger builds a few they will figure out where the holes go. 🙄

I really like integral scope base on the brownells receivers… Ruger has had some QC issues lately.

With that barrel, I bet when finished it is more accurate than I am. 😁

I would imagine it will be a shooter!

Yeah, it’s a shame. If the last 4 Rugers I’ve bought, 3 had issues. I sent one back to get fixed, I fixed another, and this one I didn’t even bother because they will say it’s “in spec” since it fits the stock it came with. Not worth the effort.

If you bought the Brownels-ish action, and factory bolt and guts, with your deal of a barrel you’d be about the same money as a new 10-22. So, bonus.

I bought a 44 special Bisley flattop last year and the first time out the timing was off. The hand wouldn’t rotate the cylinder enough for the bolt to lock the cylinder. It went back, came back in a week with a much better trigger and a bank vault like lock up. It’s very accurate, now.

I have a spare trigger group already. Just like Johnny Cash, “I got it one piece at a time!”

Perfect.

As to the Bisley, does no one even check them? (Obviously)

I’m beginning to think they have a lottery version of QC,,,, one, two take a few days off three four

Great score! I have that same barrel on my 10/22 build and it shoots great.

"WARNING: UNFIRED ROUNDS MAY NOT ALWAYS EJECT"

Seriously? WTF?

I wonder if the guys who work in nuclear power plants have to deal with warning labels stating that the shielding protecting them from plutonium might expose them to lead.

I'm guessing it has a Bentz chamber, which is slightly shorter that SAAMI spec

Has nothing to do with safety warnings. It’s just a fact. It’s a tight match chamber.
They also won’t shoot CCI Stingers because eve case is longer.

Lc9. Locked up after a few shots. Sent it back and it got a new slide and barrel.

.223 ranch rifle. Had burrs from the machining process ALL over it. Like metal slivers hanging off. If they didn’t see it during assembly, then they have retarded children doing assembly.

10-22. Mounting hole was out of location. Enough an aftermarket (tight tolerance) stock wouldn’t fit.

Yes Bentz chamber, it’s tight.

The cheapest route is to find a well used 10/22 locally (pawn shop or Armslist) and replace the barrel with your new one, Alumahyde the whole thing and put in a new stock it chassis.

I'm well familiar with match chambers but that would drive me nuts. I'd be reaming that out to a standard chamber if it were mine.
There's a few manufacturers (Walther comes ro mind) that have European cut chambers. Apparently their 22lr is a bit smaller and those guns hardly function with our ammo until the chamber is reamed out. I actually just did a P22 a week or so ago now that I think about it.

Thats across a broad swath of product!
Meaning the issues are with the shop

Yes Bentz chamber, it’s tight.
My Magnum Research barrel wouldn't eject rounds until I put in a Volquartsen Sharp Edge extractor. 100% now.....
