Mixed and in a mason jar loaded with nails & staples.

Unless they've changed them, the instructions specifically warn you not to mix until you're ready to use

No comment on the nails and surely mixing at the range is safest.

Having said that, Mythbusters showed that they couldn't make the mixed stuff go off with a rear end car crash or anything else they tried. If you know Mythbusters then you know they tried pretty darn hard.

Once mixed, it can’t be transported per multiple alphabet agencies

It’s perfectly legal to mix it and shoot it at the range.
It’s perfectly federal pound me in the ass prison time if you mix it in your garage, and drive to the range.

I always wondered why it's legal to mix binary explosives like tannerite but it's illegal to mix flash powder, also a binary explosive. And flash is a much lower order explosive.

Sensitivity to detonation?

Technically it only deflagrates unless tightly contained. It is easier to set off though. If I remember correctly, a person can mix 50 milligrams of flash powder only.

Because the BATFE only has jurisdiction for “interstate commerce “. If you are transporting, they can assume you have the ability to cross state lines.

And it’s not an explosive unless it’s mixed.

So- they have no jurisdiction unless it’s mixed and being transported.

Remember Mike was making home made tannerite to bring to Jerry's? He started mixing it and it started to heat up. He kind of put it down and stepped away. I don't think it ever went boom.

Mike was making it from scratch and adding some "extra" stuff. Store bought tannerite doesn't have any flame and there were a few times where someone had to run downrange and stomp out a grassfire.
When tannerite first came available, I bought a case and it was delivered by the post office and it came with a VHS tape (shows how long ago) telling you about it. They shot it with several handgun rounds and even tried to start it on fire and none of those would set it off, it had to be a round going 2000fps or more. It's a fun target until people start doing crazy stuff like filling lawn mowers with it.

No, I didn't, I just pointed out that the stuff is not as volatile and dangerous until you do something crazy like that.
