Gatling Gun

My brother is in Pleven, Bulgaria right now and got to crank the handle on a Colt made Gatling gun (with no ammo) that was used in the battle of Plevin that helped liberate them from Ottoman rule in 1877. It seems the US was supplying arms to both sides of the conflict… which sounds familiar

Actually used at Plevna - that is incredibly cool! The one in the museum at Cody looks practically new - that one has the lived-in look of "real" about it.

Peabody-Martinis and Winchester repeaters to the Turks; Colt Gatlings to the Russians; Colt revolvers to practically everybody. . . As Hiram Maxim's friend advised, the real money was in inventing "something that will enable these Europeans to cut each other's throats with greater efficiency"
