I'm a great Grandpa now.

1st great grandchild, Tristan, was born at approx 1:30 yesterday morning. He's had some problems and is in NICU, though he is improving and is off the vent, (step 1) off CPAP (step 2) and is slowly being weaned off supplemental oxygen. Limited number of slots on the NICU visitor's list, do xDiL put my wife's name on it in the last spot.
She's supposed to get some pictures which I'll post later. No promises what the quality of them will be.

Found out the problems are related to meconium aspiration.
In non-medical terms, he was stressed at some point before delivery and pooped before he was born and inhaled it.

Congrats, no grands, let alone great grands here. Color me a little jealous. Enjoy watching him grow

Biologically, we're not.
And thank you.
All my kids, grands and now great grand are technically "steps" though when it comes to grands, mom of great grand is the only one that every saw me when I wasn't "grandpa" (married to "granny") She was 5.5 months old when wife and I got married, and yes, she was at our wedding.

Here's a pic from today.
He's still in NICU, but they've weaned hm off the supplemental o2. If he remains "stable" through the night and tomorrow without it, he'll get to go home Tuesday.

Yep, this'll be my 9th night of it
(that counts the Saturday morning he was born, since it was 0130 and we were in bed asleep at the time)

Congrats! Glad he’s doing better.
My oldest sucked down poop in her lungs when she was born. Spent a few nights in the NICU, which wasn’t fun for anyone.
